The Behmor Roasters are back in BeanBay.

They have cleared customs and we picked them up from the docks today.

The electrician is booked for Saturday to test and tag them so we will be shipping them out Monday morning for those that have purchased and paid for one in BeanBay.

We bought a lot of them so they should be available for a while to come but just like last time, the quantity is finite and when they are gone they are gone.

Ive had my eyes on these for a few months now and a week ago I thought that before I fork out the hard earned that I should buy some greens and start roasting with a popper.  Lets just say that I will never look back.  The thing is that at this stage Im enjoying using the popper and Ive found the small batches work well for me.  Im hoping to roast once a week and I should only need 500g.  If I want to start roasting with 3 or more beans to blend then the behmor is out unless I roast more than my 500g for the week.

Ive have some ideas on PIDing a popper so that I have absolute control over what is going on.  That will slow down the roasts and give me more control than the behmor I think.  Fingers crossed that if I change my mind down the track that Behmors will still be available in australia.

Can anyone comment on Behmors and roasting small batches around 250g?  What are the pros & cons given that I want to roast small batches?

The Behmor does 500g, 250g and 125g without any problems (it comes with 1, 1/2, 1/4 pound program buttons). I have also seen bigger, smaller and in between batches done with success as long as you keep an eye on it and hit cool when ready.

As Andy says there Justin,

While you cant specifically control temp, you can by adjusting your bean mass as Andy suggests.

For the dollars it is a fantastic roaster. You wont be disappointed, particularly if you have just started on the roasting road.

I just purchased a second one...

Hmmm.... good point.
The problem with working 7 days a week is you only know about public holidays when you get to the shops and they are closed.

There is also something ironic about working on the labour day holiday but I will be.

I doubt the couriers will be working on Monday so yes, Tuesday freight.

Well the Behmor roasters have all just been tested and tagged (super long day for the sparkie) and are ready to ship out on Tuesday.

Most people should have them before the end of the week.

You will be able to trace their movement from Tuesday night on the Star Track Express website using your invoice number as the "reference number" and looking for the consignment that starts with EHO (which is CSs con-note code)
