Thanks Andy, looking forward to moving up the coffee obsession ladder and roasting a few beans.

I passed on the link to a few other coffee obsessed friends so hopefully that helps clear the decks!

Maybe you guys already know about this (Im not always first with the latest news) but if not check out http://behmor.com/pdf/Manual%20Updat...20DC%20Fan.pdf

The most important thing to do first is to set the power.

Hold down button C and plug the roaster in.
This ensures that the power is set to 240V

The next is to do the empty dry burn.  It burns off all the oil and grubby finger prints from the construction process.  If you skip this step the first roast would taste nasty!

There is a manual in the box but the online version will always be the most current.

Mine showed up today as well Andy, along with some Peru greens

Im sure youve likely thought of this question when you put the beans with the roaster, but are these a nice easy bean to roast first with, or are there others that may be easier

ive got nicaraguan, indian, PNG and tanzanian currently

The Peru Ceja is a really good roasting bean, it works through a good range of roast depths and the cracks are LOUD so you really know whats going on.

I could send cheaper beans but these really are great beans for testing any roaster and getting good results in the cup.

                    Enjoy em!

Good that it works through a range of roasts, just did the first batch, hadnt reached first crack with less than a minute left so added 30 seconds

Ended up starting and rolling well into second crack during the cooling cycle, still smells and tastes (just) like coffee and is very much CS10

Will see what my results yield in a couple of hours when I try it out, been ages since ive had dark roasted beans anyway  ;D

Andy this is a fantastic machine to use, so simple and gives great results, even if my roast went a tad too far

couple of hours later and the results are in, very slightly ashy taste, slight bitterness but its drinkable, will see it the flavours mellow out a bit in a couple of days

@ Banjo, noticed you also scored some Peru with yours as well, i did mine on P2 and B per the books recommendation, roast turned out nice but I made the mistake of adding extra time when I didnt need to (see my above post)

The beans did turn out alright after a couple of days sitting, still wouldnt make that mistake twice though, like Andy has said theyre a very tolerant bean...
