More or less beans Andy? and I assume you extend the roast time out to hold off the ramp as long as possible.
Ok... this is where posting on a public forum is exposing me up to some of that wholesome litigation from consumers and loads of grief from the manufacturer.

If for some reason YOU wanted to have a roast finish earlier than it would following the manual then you would take some bean mass out of the roast (less beans means faster roast for the same heat application) and extend the roasting time to its maximum. You would HAVE to hit the manual cool when the roast was ready else it would overrun too far and run the risk of combustion or even worse... look like *bucks coffee.

Of couse doing this would breach the terms of usage in the manual so I would not advise that you do it but I know being a CoffeeSnob you will most likely want to tinker and adjust the roasting to suit your own profiles.

tis your call, not mine, dont do this at home, always have an adult present, never leave a roaster unattended, dont roast near petrol, please follow the manual....

    Thanks, Andy. Good feedback.

BTW - I had a few more questions, but I thought it might be too much.
Agreed, Im about to invoice you for consultancy fees!

Good luck with it. At that price, it looks a winner.
    For sure!
The other good thing about the roaster is that CSrs all over the country will be able to roast the same BeanBay beans and hopefully share their own tips, tricks and times that they used to get the best results.

If lots of people roast and then share their tips then everyone will improve their coffee roasting.

          Ok Andy,

Putting Pandora back in the box for you now.

I wouldnt dream of doing anything that would upset the manufacturer or void a warranty or start a war.

Drilling a hole in the roaster and mounting the probe of the coffee snobs DMM so that I can see when the internal temps start to ramp up doesnt count though does it. :

            then, all of a sudden...

**Andy does his best 3 monkey impersonation**

PS: the profile ramps are in the manual (or were in a downloaded revision), they trigger at a percentage of total time... so you can calculate when the heater turns on. (you can also see and hear the elements come on during a roast)

                  Hi,

I noticed that the manual for the chaff collector (http://behmor.com/pdf/BT1000NV_Instructions_and_placementEnhanced_B_and_ W_copy_version.pdf) refers to a "spring-loaded" handle.

The handle on my chaff collector is not spring-loaded, but it seems that it is pushed into the correct position when the roaster door is closed.

Can anyone tell me if this is correct or if Im missing a spring on the chaff collector?

*Does it cool the beans quickly enough (eg 3-4 mins)? The programmes allow 8-13 mins! (I note the manual suggests opening the door for a quicker cool down.
                    Greg

I dont have mine yet (hoping today) but the easiest work around I see is opening the door and firing a pedestal fan at it on full tilt.

That should get the time down simply enough

Yes, thats right.  They are not spring loaded but instead use the door to push the chaff tray handle into the correct position.

I found that having the tray out a little (circa 10mm) when closing the door helps make it a smoother action too.

I expect that could work well. You might want to remove the chaff tray first though

Ok she is seasoned and ready to go. I am going to experiment with adapting my cooling bucket with a hose I can aim into the chamber after removing the chaff tray.

I thought pointing the nozzle of the leaf blower directly in there and hitting the beans 150kmh air might be a bit much. ;D Gee they would cool down quick though

Andy I assume that once the roaster has been set to 240 once it has a eeprom memory and stores the setting. We dont have to hold down the C button every time we plug it in.
