Same roaster from the same batch and the same supplier of the 240v roasters.I too think its strange that someone claiming to be non-profit has such a big price difference but maybe his overheads or freight/customs/broker-fees are higher?!?!

So now it appears it wasnt overheads at all making the price higher it was just the mob claiming to be non profit gouging their customers!

Im super happy I waited to get the roaster from CoffeeSnobs and Im lovin the new found home roasting hobby (and have only burnt one 250 gram lot so far)

Only the seller would know their motivation and price points.

The problem with international trade in multiple currencies is that it is always a moving target. You want the AU dollar high when you buy and low when you pay customs and GST.

The way I deal with the unknown overseas transactions is to only set the pricing after I can touch them. That is the first point of the process that I actually know what the real landed cost is (and how much the Govt wants to skim).

Yeah yeah, thanks for the morality lesson - I just need a roaster ASAP otherwise I would have got from CS. I will get my beans from CS so Im still supporting the site - where I got a lot of help with my Mokita so I am grateful...

I imagine the others will run out of stock then be subject to similar FX rates/import/customs cost etc...

Behmors are available at a few outlets. What people decide is up to them.

I got mine here, and I will be getting a second when they arrive here on CS.

We all have free will and curtailing that will get us nowhere.

so grateful in fact that you included info/link to the other supplier ?
i didnt see your original post but i assume thats what the mod edit was for., lacks a bit of class in my books
did you consider the other mob only dropped the price through necessity because of the deal CS offered and not through the goodness of their hearts, so yes you should be very grateful you managed to secure one at a lower price because of CoffeeSnobs

This is only speculation in my books. Maybe they went cheaper because they got a second batch and the Australian dollar was better this time around or similar. Who knows maybe the next batch from coffeesnobs will be less expensive or more expensive.

I say this as someone who has bought one from coffeesnobs and am grateful for the work that Andy has put in to deliver a great roaster at a great price.

To get things back on topic. I have enjoyed every single roast that I have completed on my Behmor so far. I have roasted for filter/syphon and espresso with a number of different beans. I have even roasted some of the same beans as Hazchem on his gene and we swapped a couple of bags to compare but we havent got together to compare notes yet.

Give Phibes4000 a fair go. None of us know his intention to post a link to the other seller. It may have been just as a matter of fact. Im guessing a lot of the sponsors on this site didnt stumble on on the forum by chance. Im guessing at least some of them were told about coffeesnobs buy one of their customers. Obviously I dont know that for fact and correct me if I am wrong.

For a lot of people, when they have money burning holes in their pocket they just need to buy what it is they want or the money will disappear to other places. Obviously this was the case here. Probably not a case of loyalty. If you want new members to hang around on here educate them a bit but dont throw daggers at them.

I know its difficult for me as Im from WA and while I would love to support the sponsors on here as they help to provide and excellent resource for all of us, it is also nice to have someone local that you can put a face to.

Just my opinion.

A can understand your position and would suggest a few here are in the same boat.

Many a time I see training / open days / places with lots of parts etc and just wish I could attend / walk in...

Brisbane has a couple of Sponsors that I do support where possible, but there are times I just have to look outside that group... And even then, Brisbane is light on.

As for you guys in WA.. Ya might as well be in a different country (So what is teh exchange rate like ? Transport must be a killer )
