  • Re: Roast: Testing Behmor

Ive been back roasting on the Behmor the last month or so, all my beans are long in the tooth, i seem to be hitting first crack earlier then others using similar weights and roasting profiles, so maybe its the age of the beans.
I roasted some Peru Organic Grace Villa Estate beanbay vintage 08/2008, very happy with how it came out, picked up a lot of tips reading through the Behmor threads and using the door ajar with the brush handle trick from first snaps of first crack through to second crack. Experimented with opening the door to the first stop a couple of times as well, i will have to drill for the probe and get the roasting software up and running.

    350g at 1lb P2 C
rolling first crack around 11 min
hit cool at first snaps of second crack at 15

Maybe but you could try adding another 50g or beans to the roast batch so there is more mass for the same given heat. That will slow it down a bit and you can adjust to suit.

...although thats a stunning looking roast, I would hesitate to fiddle too much from where you are.

Cheers on the feedback and advice guys.

I wont be changing anything on how i did that roast but i will go over my notes on some of my previous 225g batches i did on 1/2 P2 B and add some weight.

          thanks
