Re: First Roaster, what to buy...

Read the manual for the Behmor and have a few questions.

It mentioned the fact that it should not be used to roast beans with lots of chaff & also that the Behmor 1600 is not intended nor meant to roast coffee to levels known as Vienna, French, and Italian or darker. Is this going to be a problem? Will it limit the type of beans I can roast???

Also mentions a product for cleaning call Simply Green? Is this some US product that the rest of the world doesnt know about?

Also I noted this... "The standard cylinder that ships with the roaster is not designed for use with small bean types such as Ethiopian, Yemeni or blends containing either. A separate cylinder w/ smaller grid is available through your retailer for use with those bean types or blends". Is this different cylinder required and if so how much and where can I get it from.

Apart from that Ive read a few good reviews regarding the 240V model.

The manufacturer is covering his behind in regards to the Chaff and depth of roast. I will still probably roast in my corretto any excessively chaffy beans but will give most a go on the Behmor as the chaff collection tray seems to do a pretty good job and I plan on doing 1/4 pound roasts to see how it handles them first.

I believe all the units Andy has are the newer version with new chaff tray and drum.

Simply Green is a common cleaner and de- greaser you can pick it up at Bunnings or most super markets.

Re: First Roaster, what to buy...

Does anyone on the Sunshine Coast have a Behmor or a KKTO and would like to invite me over for a looky?

Im still undecided. There are pros and cons for both machines and having never roasted its hard to say what way I should go. :-/
