Re: Solar Autoroast and Torrefattore 2kg discussion thread
Few more questions.
Did the external cooling get upgraded?
Is the idea to reset the PID during course of roast to adjust profile or just to set target/finish temp?
PID works off bean mass or enviro sensor?
Would an additional temp monitoring probe be able to be fitted easily?

Yes and yes to both these questions.Originally posted by 7077737C747E6B7B7C75120 link=1271763496/49#49 date=1281510531can you just clarify that is a conventional sampler to the right of the door? Also does the door have a clear panel as well?

Great looking machine and a nice offer...Originally posted by 614D44444747704D435156475051220 link=1271763496/47#47 date=1281507202Hi guys,
New pics of the Torrefattore 2kg Manual.
6inch blower has been used for the in drum cooling option instead of the 4inch in the Solar (sorry I mentioned for outer in the above but got confused over the information supplied to me). Outer cooling is also included. I have been told the in drum should cool within 5 minutes with the bigger blower or you can drop earlier to the outside cooling unit if wanting to drop another roast.
Manual airflow control as well as option to program the airflow automatically (time and pulse intervals)
PID controller for accurate temp control and stability as well as control over the elements. To enable more subtle temp application (slower roasting) if required.
Bean sampler included.
Introductory offer to CS member is: $9990 inc GST after which the price will move to in line with the Solar 2kg at $11,990 inc GST. We are expecting stock in about 4-5 weeks and will be taking orders now. So far we have 4 units on there way in the initial batch but will extend the offer if we get orders for more than these 4 by the time they get here.
- We understand that purchasing or placing a deposit on the machines without seeing them in action bares a risk so to alleviate your concerns here anyone placing initial orders will have a 14 days returns policy should they not be happy with the equipment after they receive it.
Full 12 month warranty is provided will all spare parts stocked locally.
You can contact myself at Coffee Roasters Australia, Talk Coffee or Cuppacoffee to place orders or contact myself for any questions you may have on sales@coffeeroasters.com.au.
Cheers, Mark
Now if any one trades in their old 1kg machine I might be..... Say again; just might be in a position to consider it

Re: Solar Autoroast and Torrefattore 2kg discussion thread
Hi,
New model Torrefattore 2kg is in production and I expect out orders arent too far of completion. I dont have the final pics yet as they are on a couple of weeks leave with Italian holidays.
All I can say at this point is that they have used a 6inch flat blower for the outer cooling design. It will be very good as expected. The initial machines will be at a launch special for CS members significantly under what they will retail for which will be in line with the Solar 2kg RRP.
I am just holding off the final specs and taking orders until I have the pics as I know if I dont questions will follow that I may not be able to answer. If the initial interest is good and dollar stays strong we may extend the special price so as to be fair to everyone that has already put their names down with myself, Chris or Den. Coffee Craft in Adelaide will also be retailing them.
Cheers, Mark

I am certain Mark will be thrilled to show you over it when it arrives BF and its a great excuse for a trip.Originally posted by 2027232C242E3B2B2C25420 link=1271763496/42#42 date=1276411588Nothing personal Chris but I was thinking North in late winter early spring might make a nice working (my other work
) holiday too as well as look and play with the new version
All I need then is a larger shop to put all the coffee toys in too :
All Has Garanti and Coffee-Tech purchases in Vic and Tas are via ourselves- as Marks appointed agent. Cuppacoffee handles sales to NSW.

Ive been ogling the Solar for a while and my main concern was lack of manual control, this new model sounds like it could be ideal for us home roasters wanting full control over profiles etc

I was seriously looking at gas but the complience costs were starting to look a little exe for a small commercial roaster setup. I look forward to seeing the final production version and maybe a trip north to play
Our intention is to have a demo roaster at le shed 8-)

Re: Solar Autoroast and Torrefattore 2kg discussion thread
That sounds good.
I suppose a home made cooling system could fill in where compromises are made, a la coretto setup, but for the $$ it would be reasonable to expect it would all be sorted.......

Re: Solar Autoroast and Torrefattore 2kg discussion thread
Hi Myles,
It definately is very controllable. They have included every option.
The difference to the cooling is required as with the Solar 2kg design the elements switch off in the final stage of roasting which last for 3 minutes and uses the thermall mass of the beans before the in drum cooling commences. The cooling of the Solar is quite good, once it is dropped to the outer cooling in only needs a further couple of minute. But it is automated so the outer cooling doesnt need to be that efficient as most of it is done inside the drum. One of the other reasons for the in drum cooling is to clear out the smoke that you usually get when dropping the beans into a cooling tray. In a cafe this can quickly fill the shop so the in drum cooling prevents this, especially if roasting darker.
For the Torrefatorre manual 2kg though they are changing the cooling setup as you need to have control over the heat and elements right up to the end of the roast for manual operation so the outer cooling is more important. I think you will find the final unit will have a stronger outer cooling unit whist still remaining compact in design. The problem is that when you add agitators and motors to run fans on the outer cooling you have the problem of creating a more bulky unit and less power efficient. It wont be launched without a good cooling system so dont worry, I will update once it is finalised.
Cheers

Re: Solar Autoroast and Torrefattore 2kg discussion thread
Mark - that is great news!
I had done a bit of research but arrived at the conclusion that the solar was not controllable enough for a home tweaker and in drum cooling is probably not ideal. Does this mean there will be rapid in-tray cooling?
The alternative was to go a bigger investment on gas.
I will hang out till you get them, so let me know.
Myles
