The one on the left was roasted first, then the second one is the batch on the right hand side.
This test is slightly unfair as both of them are one colour scale difference.
Both were taken into second crack.
The reason why i did this was because you can roast in the Baby to start of second crack, take the beans out and they still look too light.
Not sure what the science is behind this. So what ive learnt is to roast it right into second crack to the colour profile i want, and still retain the origin characters of that particular bean.
Apart from all that, the beans from the "ramp up" version look bigger than the conventional one. You might be able to see from the pic.
How this translates in the cup i will post a bit later this afternoon, and then each day after.

To answer your question Julia, im not perfect as an amateur roaster ;D the left batch was a bit lighter than i wanted it to be and guesswork was involved in pulling the beans out even though i dropped a few beans out to visually sample approaching second crack.
Would be interesting if someone out there can put together a drum roaster made of conductive glass so we can see the roast under progress. Hint hint

Unlike other roasters Julia, you can roast into second crack on the Baby and get a nice cup. Try it!
Thats the fun of roasting, trying different things and experimenting and find what you like.
