  • Behmor cooling cycle

Ive just got my Behmor and noticed that the small top heating element stays on for about 3 minutes after the cool down cycle has started. The two main heaters in the back are off.

I thought cooling the beans quickly was ideal, so I have no idea why that particular element keeps heating well into the cooling cycle.

    Has anyone else noticed that?

    That is the afterburner!

That top element comes on to burn the smoke that is produced at the end of a roast. While it glows red and looks hot (please dont touch!) there is very little heat radiating down into the chamber as the fans draw air (and smoke) up through it and into the exhaust. On the way through that element burns most of the smoke clean.

Its working just like it should!

Thanks Andy for the quick feedback.

So, should I leave the door closed when the afterburner is on? I actually opened it to speed up the cooling process. There was a bit of smoke coming out initially, but not enough for the neighbours to worry about!

        Yes.

Otherwise if you peer too closely you may end up with what looks like a stain on your forehead.

Im sorry, it was just there........
