Re: USB Behmor - driven by Roast Monitor / Roast Controller
This project of yours has got my tongue wagging Andy.
The big benefit I can see in a setup like this is repeatability. I use a corretto and Im at the point on the learing curve where repeatability is a hit and miss. Making a small change here and there is like trying to thread a needle with a 4by4.
I love using the corretto, but seeing where youve managed to get high flexibility coupled with high repeatability has got me all hot and bothered...

Re: USB Behmor - driven by Roast Monitor / Roast Controller
I dont read every post when its posted so randomly "talking to Andy" in a thread wont always work well.
:
In answer to the "are we there yet"... no, its in progress and in fact it was Christmas got in the way as its darn hard to get anyone to anything during the silly season.
The good news is I have one that works great
(just rubbing it in as a payback for the "are we there yet")
..."dont make me pull over"

Yes, we have a template exchange in the pipeline too.
Of course, people can already swap templates that they are happy with but we are working on a neat way of doing so.

Re: USB Behmor - driven by Roast Monitor / Roast Controller
Just curious Andy, after re-reading your first post you talk of templates for the roasts. Im wondering if these templates would be exportable to other users of the same set up. Thinking along the lines of being able to exchange templates to try out etc. Of course I do know that what fits the goose may not fit the gander, but it could be something to help out new users or those who are looking for a different profile to try.
By the sounds of it, you could save a template that worked nicely for you, so you could use it for the next time you roast that particular bean. This would be handy for someone like me who has a large variety of beans that I swap back forth across. If I nail a particular profile I could save it for the next time I feel like trying that bean, and be confident of getting a similar result.
My method at the moment is a bit hit and miss, but Im getting better with more experience on the roaster and something like this would be an absolute boon to me.
