  • Hottop P display failure

Hi, I am a long time lurker, I am hoping someone can answer my question, probably Greg.

The display on my Hottop P has stopped working, I still have full control and can roast as I can remember what profiles I have saved in each location but as it appears the LCD screen has failed I cannot see what the roaster is doing.

My question is as it is a P model can I just replace the control panel with a B model ? or can it only be replaced with a P controller.

    Thanks.

    JJ

    Re: Hottop P display failure

The P and B models used the same main board. The only difference was the control panel itself. When upgrading (and in my opinion, going from the "P" to the "B" is an upgrade for anyone serious at all about their coffee), I also suggest getting the fusible link update. The latest models have a resistor jumpered between terminals T3 and T4 on the main board. If you have a wire connected to each of those terminals, then you should get the update.

      Hi Drapes,

Yep you can change the P panel for a B panel, as Randys said the control boards are identical. Weve got it on our site at $175 http://thingscoffee.com.au/product_info.php?cPath=39_44&products_id=151

Did you buy the roaster from us or privately from Hottop prior to us taking on distribution? Id concur with Randys opinion of the B vs the P for anyone serious about roasting.

        Re: Hottop P display failure

        Thanks for the replies.

I purchased the roaster second hand and all has been fine till now. The display actually came good after posting this but I thought I would check it again this afternoon and it has done it again. Is it likely that it is just the controller that is playing up or could it be another problem. The roaster works normally other than not displaying the information on the screen, the screen even still changes colour at the different stages.

        Thanks.

        Drapes.

          Re: Hottop P display failure

Yeah thereve been a few Ps that have had that same problem, thats why I asked whether you got it through us as we might have been able to do something for you. Hottop believe its a heat-related issue and the newer Hottops have more ventilation cut-outs in the chassis to alleviate that.

The B panel is really the best option unless you like to set and forget, which is where the Ps the better option.
