  • 1st Corretto roast - not so good

My 1st corretto roast wasnt too great. I had my PID roast controller set up to follow a profile but The roast went too slow at the start and couldnt keep up with my desired profile. Maybe I should have the HG mounted lower??

Also, the cracks came at lower temps than Im used to with my popper? I used to get 1st crack at about 200 deg. Not sure whats going on there??

Heres the intended roast profile and actual profile. My PID controller had the HG on 100% for the whole roast.

definitely need the HG closer to the beans, is it a 1500w or 2000w gun?

is that some sort chaff extractor attached at the back

      what does it suck with?

are you using the right probe / pid "channel"
my pids have different "channels" for diff probe type "k type" etc
if i put a K on a wrong channel it reads weird....

          Actually that is about right
Depending on the beans first crack is 195 to 205 deg C

Whats more important is the time it takes to reach the temp

Haha, no, thats my attempt at cooling the beans in the BM. The PVC pipe is connected to a electric leaf blower. It succeeded in blowing beans all over the yard. ;D

My thermocouple is connected to my DIY controller using a microcontroller and PID algorithms. Its a new thermocouple so maybe I should test it against my old one.
