Hazbean did you take Quest to Beanology?
He most certainly did.  It was on the back wall.  Unfortunately, due to the smoke = firebrigade thing, it was never fired up in anger.  I did notice a lot of people fondling it though!

Having done a batch with the thing in the Hazbean kitchen, I have to say it is an exquisite piece of engineering.  Lovely to look at and quite nice to use.  Even the cooling system works pretty well.  You could have a lot of fun with one of those.

I guess a PM off to "hazbean" or "chrismelb" would be the easiest way to find out...

              Re: Quest arrived

going to order the Quest and wanted to ask about extras... seems second thermometer (analogue I think) useful for bean mass temp..
Not sure about SS thermocouple KType - would need multimeter or digital themometer to use.

As not savvy with all this thought to KISS, thoughts anyone. Not sure of price of these extras , but probably not high and extra weight is nothing.

also if order these extra(s) do I need extra holes drilled to take and where??

              cheers

                    Re: Quest arrived

Whoops, Ive been asleep, just noticed these postings.

The TC is part of the CS kit which I already had, the thermometers come with the M3.

I use the TC to get an ET outside the drum. The bottom thermometer reads BT.

Its possible to use the M3 quite successfully without the TC.  At the moment Im mostly using it to get a better idea of what happens around the drum.

                        Re: Quest arrived

Collected my M3 from  post office, it arrived beautifully packaged as per chrismelbs.  Now with first roast (Peru) under my belt easy-as I really feel my journey for great coffee is underway.

A big thanks to hazbean and his OH for dropping by last W/E with his M3 and showing me the ropes. Beaut to meet some fellow CSrs and we roasted two batches  (Ghimbi and Yirgacheffe just marvelous in the cup a week later)

M3 first roast pics with my iphone, apologies for quality. I think it is around CS8/CS9 used "Easy-Roasting" as suggested for beginner.

My OH loves it, told his sister that Id taken M3 for a roasting, she thought for a minute it had four wheels LOL
