Thanks Mal i will. Its all so overwhelming at the moment and everything has moved so fast for me as i had no coffee gear just 3 weeks ago and by the end of this week i will be roasting coffee. If it ever arrives that is..

You my be right Galumay. it seems to be the normal response from most of the Csers that leaving the coffee 5 to7 days brings out the best flavour.
I agree its the normal response, I am not convinced that its a generalisation that can safely be made. If you research other coffee there is vigorous and scientific debate about how long to leave coffee before its at its best. There is certainly no real consensus on the subject.

My point is rather that I dont know why people wait if they have no other roasted coffee available, in almost all cases freshly roasted coffee will be perfectly drinkable, sure it might improve marginally over a couple of days but its generally still going to be ok if the roast is good.

Thats also a very big generalisation... :-?

Several of the coffees that I roast, benefit greatly from being left to develop for up to 2 weeks. I know of some professional roasters who recommend that some of their offerings are allowed to develop even longer.

As mentioned above, there are no hard and fast rules especially when considering the full range of coffee brew methods. If a coffee or blend is new to you, its a good idea to start drinking it immediately then progressively drink every day thereafter, so that one can base ones decision on ones own palate. Theres no better way..... 8-)

          Mal.

sorry to hear that Kafine: the good news it will certainly get there Monday. There is a tiny chance it is at your local Post Office- if you can find their number or drop in it may be there...

considering that Apple have never been known to offer goods in the coffee industry I would say any attempt to sue over infringement of any i trademark would be likely to fail.

I think the Koreans can rest easy.

Its funny there is also anther roaster called the I-Roast...

Adding an i to the front of things sure makes it easy to come up with a name...

ive been using a popper to learn on, and ive just put an order in for one of these. i think ill still use a popper when i want to track the temp as thats been a good way for me to get an idea of whats happening with the different beans ive tried.

i suppose this roaster would be hard to get a probe into without doing some serious modding?

You cant adjust the profile on this machine. Just watch and listen. Its very easy to see and hear so have fun. I have never roasted and was very happy with my first attempt.
