Haha! Not many people would remember the Dark Crystal. Glad to see someone does :-)

Ha ha man I loved the heck out of that film, despite never quite being as popular as the Labyrinth I always enjoyed it more. Many years ago I used to torture my girlfriend by making the "SkeeeeekksIIIIIIIIeeeesss" noise while talking to her; which unsurprisingly she did not enjoy. Come to think of it, I can't imagine why I am still single :P

N.B. Apologies for getting off topic and in an attempt to keep it back on topic I just wanted to say I am totally impressed with the consistency of the roasts that are coming from the I-Coffee photos in this thread. I was curious to know whether any I-Coffee owners had made any mods to their roasters in an attempt to gain some more control over the roasting process/profiling?

      • Many of us would be happy just to have one that actually works.

        • Hello Everyone!

a big sorry: the order has been delayed- I was hoping to have them here now- but CRK Korea had problems with one of their component makers- some of the workers got called up for military service delaying things. So possibly we can blame Kym Jong-un... I have just gotten confirmation that the order has now been fully assembled and is ready to ship over the next few days. Hopefully I will have confirmation of the shipping time by the end of next week. Once that happens I will have a ship to watch and can estimate how long till it arrives in Australia, clears customs and gets to me. As soon as they arrive they will start to go out.

I am also hoping to get one sample sent by EMS so I can start testing- work out what the new features are- and get some pics up here for everybody to see.

Please accept my sincere apologies for the long delays- I am touching a wooden bench right now- praying that alls well that ends well. I hope the new features of the roaster will make it even better at roasting than the last model- and also remove any of the glitches seen in some units. For those of you who have used an I-coffee you will know that they are very capable little machines and produce a fine roast: when they work. This is one of the reasons it is so depressing whn they don't work. I have faith still that the Koreans have worked hard to resolve the issues and produce a new model for everyone. I will update here again when I have more news.

          • Here's hoping. I have retained the faith, mainly because of the great roast the machine produces. Really hope it works out, since they will prove very popular. Thanks for your efforts Jack.

... are they on a boat?

my coretto is failing in the freezing melbourne cold - I just can't get enough heat into it.

              • I recieved my new icoffee and i started it up and it jams pretty much straight away. I took the pot out, held the chaff tray down so that the switch is activated and i can see that the wing axis connection is spinning but it is also moving around it's axis slightly. See: Icoffee roaster stops working - YouTube

Just wondering if any of you guys that already have an icoffee could check to see if the axis moves like it does on mine as i think this is the reason why it's jamming?

                • Looks to me like either the drive shaft is bent or the whole motor is on a bit of a lean?

                  • The spindle looks bent, it shouldn't spin off axis like that. You got this direct from Korea, I think. Perhaps it took a hit in transit. I would be sending it back and asking for a replacement. Good luck.

Thanks for the input guys. I also noticed the shaft wiggles a lot in place

Here's a video of me moving it

So i take it no one else's shaft moves this much ??

                      • I've contacted the seller and he said he'll sort this issue out entirely and will look into it first thing monday morning. Just a pain when your waiting for it to come with excitement and then the disappointment when it doesn't work. Oh well, what can ya do.!

                        • My guess is the motor mount is either loose or broken rather than bent based on the last video. Good to hear they are going to sort it for you.

The shaft on mine was stable, yours looks broken. Though my machine had other issues as documented above.

                            • Certainly a screw loose! I've taken one of these apart and they are reasonably straight forward under the covers. A little play in the spindle is designed to act like a cars universal joint and quite normal but that play seems a little on the large side.

I assume that the jamming happens with no beans in the pan [EDIT: Just watched your youtube, so yes!]. I say this as I have seen some beans for sale that are so small that only a popper could roast them without issue. The paddles in the pan can jam if the beans are too small or there are impurities such as grit. It has happened to me, but very rarely and always explainable.

Fingers crossed for a quick resolution!

                                Thanks Jaybee,

On close inspection i can see that the motor is secure, but there is excessive play in the spindle on the motor shaft like you mentioned . I have returned it and have another in transit at the mo, the supplier was decent enough to pay for postage costs and send out a replacement once I gave him a tracking number of the returning faulty one. Just gotta sit tight again.

The newer model has a digital countdown timer with beeps and 12 presets instead of the 9, and the preheat setting is no longer on it.

Just wondering if the settings are only for timer settings, which i think they are. Did you ever test the temp profile on settings 1-9 on your icoffee to see if the temp profile is the same for each and just the cooling cycle starts earlier?

                                Cheers,

                                Karl
