Who knows, it may enhance the bean. I remove the lids daily to air the beans, and so far they arent too bad on the nose, the third batch smelling the best. The first two could be charcoal.

Secondly, a previous poster mentioned pulling the power supply as a way to stop the roast progressing. This may shorten the machines life by causing componets to overheat. I suggest the roaster is purpose built to allow a fan-controlled cooling process, as much to protect components, as to aid roasting. if you must cut the power, at least blow cool air into the unit from an external fan. Many heat machines keep fans and other parts running for several minutes after the element or heat source has powered down. Just a thought.
I've owned my machine for a year now and have been doing a couple of roasts a week. I am very happy with this machine and have not had any problems at all. I usually roast 200gm and as soon as the roast is where I want it to be I turn the roaster off, turn the beans out into a sieve and place on the fan until cooled.

Thanks all. Found a couple of Youtube demos and based on that and your recommendations, decided to take the plunge on the Sorrentina web store page. Can't wait to get roasting.

If you click on the retail tab at the bottom of the Sorrentina web store page, there are a few stores listed in Melbourne.
I'd suggest a quick call to check if they stock the I Coffee.

Why not give Jack at Sorrentina an email and confirm that there's no way for you to view one. I'm pretty sure he's in Melbourne, and is a good bloke to deal with.

Mine arrived three hours ago from jack, did one roast before picking up kids and another half an hour ago. As a first time roaster im pretty pleased with myself. Took both into start of second crack and cooled quickly on the supplied cooler, nice even colour, now just have to be patient and wait before using them.

The machine appears to be very well built with an excellent finish, if you see one in the flesh expect to walk away with it.

Thanks to jack for throwing in some extra beans too ( and some cup filter looking things).
Early days yet a very happy camper at present....time to roast those png beans.
