    Looking forward to posting results.
And even more to drinking them I hope
Yes indeed, even more looking forward to drinking, Ive ran out of beans a few times on a weekend where my local isnt open to get some more, the next logical step in the coffee journey is roasting for your own consumption and supply

I have the heatpump on at home during tassies cold winter, ambient temp would be around 18, is this too warm to roast inside under the rangehood?

I dont think that will be a problem i have roasted up to 20c no real changes from 12c. It was only when i had a freezing westerly the other night i couldnt get the I-Coffee hot enough. Just remember if you dump the beans after 2nd crack you will get smoke when you open the lid. If your roasting using the fully auto roast there will be no smoke. I roasted three batches on the bench near the back door dumped at 2nd crack and found i could get the beans into a colander and out the door without too much smoke. Cooled quick as well it was so cold that night.

              I agree.... 8-)

Lovely looking roasts. The little I-Coffee certainly does produce the goods...

I just reduced the size of your image files "MrDerrickC". If you can keep the images within a framework of 800x600 Pixels and to a file size of 100KB or so, that would be great.

God I think Im addicted to roasting.
Happens to all of us eventually mate.... ;D

                  Re: I-Coffee roasting experiences

I received Japerts ex machine today and I have to say I am absolutely stoked and happy, he was very generous to include some beans and I decided to give what was left of the Peru, 175g batch raw.

First crack at 12:50 and pulled just past 16 minutes, not sure if they are a tad too light but they look good to me, nice and even and I cant wait to give them a try post 6 days Ill crack them.

The only problem is my other half hates coffee and will hate the smell of me roasting in the house but that just means more for me eh She will get used to it

                  Heres the money shot(s)

Fantastic looking results there "R0s".... [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

Why not start tasting the fruit of your labours immediately? After all, you will need to work out when the flavour peak occurs and it may not be the same for any other roast methods youve used....

                      Re: I-Coffee roasting experiences

Ive got some Indo kuda mas from the local roaster to finish off which will give me 2 days before I try this which should be enough for it to rest?

My only other experience to roasting was in my popper but the roasts were too short for the beans to get over the grassy taste, this looks the goods and already the smell is great. I may try it in the aeropress tomorrow if I get too keen

That reminds me I really need to get my CS member card so I have a scale

                        Should be fine R0s... 8-)

Try it every day afterwards and just observe how the flavours develop over the ensuing days and take not of when the flavours really stand out to you. That will be the day to take note of for future roasts of the same bean....

                          Just fantastic R0s!

My previous popper experience has had me tending to pull the roast early too - better than too late and all of the roasts have still tasted great.

Its a month since I got the machine and have realised that I have doubled my coffee consumption by making a brew before work as well as after. I have also started skipping my pro-fix too (sorry vendors!) which means that all in all the roaster will have paid for itself in less than nine months. To be honest, it has already more than paid off its initial cost in sheer joy of use.

                            Re: I-Coffee roasting experiences

Peru is smelling and looking good, little spots of oil on the beans,  Ill taste tomorrow

So I dug out my original starter pack and in there was Peru, PNG Wahgi Peaberry, Gambella Naturals and Tanzania Rononi faircrack, I read the Tanzania was fairly rare and was limited supply so I decided to roast half of what I had for a workmate. These beans produced the most chaff Ive seen, the tray was full but the roaster certainly does work well for catching it.

Took them to the near end of the scale, not sure if they went too far but they look okay?

Looks a nice dark roast without being oily and with no obvious second cracked beans. Thats the colour I like but tend to under-do!

                              Good job, I recon
