The koffee kosmo design is a 2 pot system
Lets rename them - Roast Chamber & Outer Chamber

      The roast chamber is perforated
Chaff is forced to the outer chamber by 3 forces
      1) Gravity (2) Push from the agitation (3) Fan forced from the Turbo oven

95% to 98% of chaff is collected in the outer chamber

Hi I have just purchased a Turbo Convection Halogen Cooker having previously used a popcorn maker and the beans took about 6 minutes. The convection oven has a max temperature setting of 250 degrees and it took me 24 minutes today for the first roast. Is this normal for convection ovens?
          Thanks

That depends on how you have set up your roaster
The amount of green beans you have used

A little more information is needed to answer

              Re: Wannabe KKTO Home Roasters...

Thank you KK. I put just enough beans in to cover the steamer tray. The latter was placed on top of the higher tray with temperature set to the maximum - 250 degrees.
The roasted beans are still in a colander as they were only roasted about 5 hours ago. They are a blackish brown and do not give off the normal roasted aroma

I really need to know how you set your roaster up
Does it have the correct volume ?
Does it have adequate insulation to prevent heat loss ?
Does it have good agitation ect

                Photos would also be nice

                  Re: Wannabe KKTO Home Roasters...

Thank you once again. Before I opened your last message I made some adjustments like preheating (which I didnt do before) and removing the drip tray at he bottom (like a "dill" I didnt realise it was removable). This made a world of difference and I have just finished another roast which has been successful. Thanks again for all your assistance and advice. Much appreciated Regards, Olstan

                    Re: Wannabe KKTO Home Roasters...

I know Im a "pain". But .... I recently purchased a Halogen Turbo Oven. The highest temperature setting is 250 degrees although preheating for 15 minutes only shows 185 on an oven thermometer. Do other Turbo ovens have a higher temperature setting because I find mine doesny get hot enough to roast beans.

Hi Olstan, I believe that 250 would be/is the standard max temp on the dial. I have both halogen & solid element types and both max out [by the dial] @ 250.

                      Steve.

Has anyone tried a glass pot turbo over in combination with a magnetic stirrer?

Not sure how it would go with the chaff, but it would make things nice and simple.

Firstly a magnetic stirrer may not have enough torque to do the job

The glass pot only option has been used by others with varying success.
Due to its large volume size, one may only be able to roast small amounts

Thanks for your response. I assume you roast coffee beans in yours. Would you be so kind to give me a run down on your complete procedure.

Yes I do..........is there another use for them that i am not aware of

Ok, Ill try to be brief.
I preheat roaster at about 100 degrees for 5 minutes, dump beans in and put TO on full. let things go until the first hints of 1C, drop TO temp to 200 or about, quick burp and try and maintain 4-5 degree ramp to 2C by burping as needed. I generally dump beans into the cooler just on the first hints of 2C. Not much to it really.

                              Hope that helps, Steve.
