Aillio R1 Bullet

I didn't get to see it roasting but I did see it fired up and running. For some reason I spent the whole time talking to one of the inventors and forgot to take a picture of it!! I grabbed one of the second roaster they had on the stand outside the sensory lab. It looks really well built and solid and I'm looking forward to getting mineLast edited by Lukemc; 19 March 2016, 12:10 PM.

I also had a look at the Bullet. Nice looking roaster. I was able to see it in action and was surprised at the output in terms of available heat. I didnt think the price was going to be as high as 4k? Either way it seems these guys are really putting in some effort to make sure these roasters come out %100.

I think pricing needs to be taken in the context that a real 1kg electric commercial roaster from a brand which can provide local compliance and support would set you back well over double what the estimated ask will be. I bumped into Mahalia at the ECA stand and she mentioned that her 1kg Diedrich was significantly north of $10k and that was after her loyalty discount.
Jacob and Jonas have been very generous to those who placed faith in them and preordered. I'd think that they will be making little, if anything on the first batch of 250 which were sold at too good to be true prices. The reality is that even their most recent preorder price equates to over $3k landed in Australia.
ECA need to find funding to buy them (and we're probably talking a container load), establish a parts inventory and then allow themselves and resellers a fair margin. I think that even at $4k, the bullet represents very good buying for a serious hobby roaster or small commercial operation- such as mucking around with an origin or two to add to a cafe offer.
It works (really well) and I am very much looking forward to receiving ours.

For the capacity it is certainly a bargain. The big question in my mind is how quickly this roaster will respond to intended temperature changes. The beauty of a traditional gas roaster is that the majority of bean heating is attributable to convection rather than conduction and the roasting air temperature is quickly responsive to alterations to the burners. I'll be interested to see how quickly the Aillio's induction system works in comparison.
