that does look good, hows it going? have you tried it out yet? I ended up putting a 3 ring burner under mine, played around with various heat diffusers and now am roasting 1.5kg green in around 15 minutes depending on drop in temp. If I warm to 250 deg oven temo I can get to first crack in 13-14 min. The evenness and finished product is very good, getting some very positive feedback from the various guineapigs I supply.

I recently had a new drum made up (here in Griffith - A & G Engineering did a brilliant job) now can roast 2kg batches to beginning second crack in 16 min. 2.5kg 19min, 1750g in 13 min. going really well.

G'day Deco, I have a PID thermo probe measuring environment temp just outside the drum, really only serves as an index as I can't get bean temp, but gives me a feel for drop in temp and when to expect first crack. I mainly roast according to sounds, elapsed time and scent of smoke. I run my roast (2.26kg or 5lb) to about 10 seconds into rolling second crack which takes about 16 min with a fully heated drop in temp. This roaster is doing 10kg roasted in 90 minutes which is great for a home made shoestring budget outlay!
