    • What did you do to knock up the profiles like that?? software etc

      • I use the Coffeesnobs roast monitoring software, if that's what you mean.

These roasts were done on the Behmor 1600 plus, the profiles I used can be seen in the image file name if you click on the image.

The dips after the initial peak at ~235d are the fan coming on. After that you can see that the roast levels off till first crack. At first crack I dropped power to 50%: for the first batch, that was at ~11:30, second and third batch ~13:50.

These were left to rest for some time as I had a lot of roasted beans. Looking at my notes, Batch 2 was opened on day 19 and day 20 produced an unforgettable shot.

          See:

Batch 2 and 3 lines are identical except for the end/pull times. How's that for consistency in the Behmor?
          Nice!

Don't forget if you are doing manual element settings you can also use the Roast Monitor temperature slider to draw the percentage of heat on the graph, makes a neat way of keeping manual setting notes.

          • Err I received today 10 seconds into the cooling cycle of my 25th roast. I get it all the time now so no coffee/roasting till I get a response to my email from Andy/Behmor as to what to do.

            • Hi Javabeen, according to behmor website err5 relates to when the component cooling/ DC Fan is not working (not to be confused with the bean cooling fan/ scroll fan), loose connection or the front Panel is not working correctly.

I had a minor issue with my afterburner and got it resolved really quick between behmor support and Andy.

Do register your product on Behmor website if you havent already done so and seek support from Behmor team first for troubleshooting, they are very helpful and prompt with their replies

Good luck, hope you get roasting again soon!

I had this on my 1600 - easy(ish) swap out of the fan. Mine was intermittent as the fan was running, just occasionally slowing/labouring, probably a bearing that cleaning wouldn't fix. Send Andy an email.

                • Thanks for the replies all, I already read the manual which shed some light on the error.

Andy and Behmor tech have both responded outside of business hours which I greatly appreciate however I had not expected a response till at the earliest from today Monday. We are sorting this out, so thanks to Andy and Behmor tech.

                    • I'm up and roasting. Behmor tech along with Andy diagnosed the problem being the circuit board. Andy sent out a new one on Monday and I received it yesterday, installed it, did a dry burn and a couple of roasts last night. All good.

Since replacing the circuit board I've noticed the fan over the circuit board on the right side of the roaster is running the minute a roast is started and doesn't turn off until a roast is completed including the cooling cycle. Before replacing the circuit board I never heard the fan so it was never running. Now it's obvious but in no way noisy or too loud to hear the all important cracks.

Thanks to Behmor tech and Andy. It is a great roast and a pleasure to use.

                      • Hi all,

Just received my plus upgrade panel yesterday and am wondering if there is a link to the installation instructions and perhaps a user manual. Plan to install over the weekend and do a new roast.

Also, I hope in the user manual it describes in more detail of what the 'rossetta stone' function is, and how best to use it?
Also, I think I read somewhere that Andy provides some guides for different coffee beans like the Peru ceja been, is there a link for this as well?

                        Many thanks

                        James

                        • Check out YouTube. There is a short and long version and AFAIK, the video is endorsed by Joe Behm himself as a good guide for installing the panel upgrade.

                          • Quick question: I'm grabbing one tomorrow from Talk Coffee and I've read the manual in advance to know what to expect. However, I've never had to choose my voltage on a product - so how do I know if it's 220, 230, or 240v at my place??

                            • Quick answer to the quick question.... 240V

                              SE Asia and Europe 220v
Most of QLD and pockets around AU 230v
Rest of AU is still 240v
Minimal difference in the roaster between the 230 and 240 settings.

                              • Thanks Andy. With that out of the way, I'm looking forward to roasting in my new Behmor. Will certainly beat the Kambrook popper (which has served me well), I'm betting!
