  • troubles in paradise!

    I need advice on temp control for a recently purchased S-100CR EVERY roast I do turns into charcoal..greasy smoky charcoal..its a new machine with no info on the manul about resetting the roaster temp..Im wondering if anyone out there in the wonderful land of caffeine connoisseurs has any info I can use on the topic as Im sick of burnt offerings at the alter!

      in a popper..I have 3 poppers...doing home roasts for about 3 months

        Try increasing the batch size of your roast... that will slow things down

          I increased the batch to 220grm.. lowered the color setting to 8..full cycle inc cool down.. result was all carbon!..black and greasy charcoal beans..even on the lowest setting (1) it still made burnt sacrifices..

            Is there any chance it's wired for 110V and you're using an adapter to feed it 240V?

              Its Australian rated..plugged and voltage..so... no there isnt a chance.

                Ok so what are you roast times and what settimg do you have it on. Some more info on what you think is going on might help find you an answer. I had one of these secondhand quite a few roasters back now. Im strugglimg to understand what you mean and why you are ending up with black beans

                  I think I have it sorted..with advice from 'Jack' from Sorrentina coffee'...(the seller) we worked out it was the heating element was set to incinerate...not roast.. Ive since reset the level..and ran 150 gm of green thru it and full cycle inc cool down.. produced a dark roast..that looks, smells and tastes like a Vittorio Espresso beans.. cannot wait to try it in the cup!..
