Yeah that Bosch 630DCE is the HG of choice. I love the 10 oC push button adjustability with the LCD readout... None of this up/down stuff with this setup.

Ahhh so its Woolies for the collander. I havent found one large enough yet to get my cooling bucket sorted out.

I also did a batch of roasting today of a blend. 300g.  came out rather good and even and post roast was 251g.
Perfect for the 250g coffee bag.  Am in the plans of looking at getting a roasting station together and want to incorporate the bean cooler into it.

I am still rolling the beans back and forth in strainers over a box fan.  not ideal as would like a quicker cooling method.  Really want to incorporate an old vac system to speed this process up.

What sort of cooling time do you get fromt he extraction bucket?

    Cheers Sullo!

Just got back from roasting my second batch - FC @ 12 mins SC at 18 mins - thats more like it.

Surprisingly, it has an identical appearance to this mornings first (but faster) batch, so I cant wait to try discern the flavour differences.

New to the "Corretto Club" / My first roast!

It all started when I was browsing the "Quokka" classified Ads (similar to the "Trading Post") last Thursday and found a number of cheap 2nd hand Bread Makers.  Figuring I had Friday off work... well the rest, as they say is history.  (They also say that idle hands make for the devils work  )

By yesterday arvo, I had everything made, in place and ready to go,

Firstly, the cooling / extraction bucket (ceiling fan and 20 litre bucket from Bunnings, metal collander from Woolies):

Then the $30 BM, $12 Drill stand, and Bosch heat gun (note: attached the HG to the stand using the handle from a hammer drill and some acoustic foam - lots of adjustability and rock solid once set into position.)

First roast was with 300 grams of Capricorn Estate.  FC at 8:30, SC at 12:30.  A little fast for my liking but I was still very pleased at how evenly the batch roasted!

    Before:

    After:

Im far from handy, but I was amazed at how easily this all came together (thanks to the Brother-in-law for his handy work in sawing the ventilation holes at the bottom of the extraction bucket).

Im off to attempt my next batch now (Im hooked  8-) )!

    Cheers,

    Sam.
Working...
