Yes, the machine that goes ping was also my thought association and I agree someone will complain it isn't loud enough to hear while mowing the lawn.

Like "chips on the stove", never leave a roaster unattended - mentally or physically.

Ahhhhh yes! common sense, not all that common nowadays.

Sadly we rely more and more on machines that go ping, when something in the machine fails (as components are prone to do) and the machine doesn't go ping and proceeds to burn the bloody house down, we can absolve ourselves of all responsibility, blame the machine, and rush off to seek the services of our friendly lawyer, who, being the parasite that he is, will immediately recognise a potential bonanza, seek out other users of similar machines that failed to go ping, launch a class action against the manufacturer and self righteously attempt to empty their bank account and with a little luck subject them to bankruptcy proceedings.

All because someone with the attention span of a gnat, couldn't stay in one place long enough to monitor a process that is potentially hazardous.

Cmon you lot, I think it’s a great feature. I for one have faith in electronics. While still in the design phase, maybe we could push for an external alarm output so we could trigger a boat horn or something like that.

to be fair, most complaints stem from people watching the beans and losing track of the countdown.

I’m sure the savvy could use the on board beeper to trigger a relay that would then fire up a truck horn if so desired.

I think it’s absolutely great that upgrades keep happening to this awesome roaster and that they are available as a retro fit!

              Cheers

Yerrrp, guilty! I even set a timer on my phone that basically rings out to tell me to pay attention very very soon to cancel the 'attention signal', and yet I still have missed it XD

Eventually they will introduce "dead man's switch" where heating element is only operational if user is holding special button pressed all the time.
(saw it in fuel trucks were fuel pump works while driver is holding special button only)

                      Hi Andy,
I can't pm you so have to post, just wondering if you have any timeframe on when the AB may arrive?
                      Many thanks
                      Dave

Use the 'Contact Us' link at the bottom (right) of this page. Better chance that Andy will see it.

As per the 1600AB's BeanBay page:

The factory is still jumping the electrical certification and safety hurdles for this new release and we won't have any firm pricing, manufacturing, shipping or availability dates until it's all done.

Please don't ask the very annoying "are we there yet" questions as the holdup is caused by numerous third parties and we have no control over their lag.

Instead, please use the [contact us] below to get added to the notification list and we will let you know more details as we know them.

Current best guess is landing here in the New Year

I’ve made this mistake many times, usually just focused on the beans and I miss the countdown. Great to see that Behmor have taken customer feedback on board (despite always saying they would never add an audible warning).

To be fair to Behmor that's still true, they will never add a buzzer to the 1600 or the 1600 plus. They just can't add a buzzer to the existing boards as the micro is FULL but the new roaster allowed a little more headspace and in doing so, required a full recertification which has been the year-long lag on getting this model built.

Still looking like early in the New Year but until the container load is built and on the water I wouldn't bet.

In my almost 200 roasts with the Behmor i've never been "timed out". Even though I use a phone timer I've rarely had to rely on it to remind me to hit the start button.
I'd like to see a display that is visible during daylight hours, it's probably the only thing that irritates me about the Behmor. I have a workaround but its not the greatest solution.
