You will find that with 500-600gm in bucket the beans agitate better and dont eject themselves all over the place!!

Thanks for the feedback! Looking at photos of different setups on CS and watching the home made videos was A LOT of help. Cant wait to give it another go with more beans. The next one should be easier.

Nice job! I love the "travel kit" that youve put together, too. My wife would LOVE it!

(She only wishes I could be that organized)

Congrats on your first Corretto roast Buschy, it looks as though you are on the right track to successful roasting.
I used the small fan to disperse chaff and then to cool the beans and it worked quite well except in the Perth summer when second crack rolled on a little too long at times, I have now set up an exhaust fan in my cooling box and they are room temp in about 40 seconds.
    Enjoy your roasting experience
    cheers......................gm

    Corretto gone live!

After a week of gathering various bits and pieces I finally completed my first roast today using my new Corretto. 270g of Peru Grace Villa Rica Estate. The setup still needs a bit of fine tuning but appears to have done the job. I live in a unit and although spacious it isnt very conducive to a permanent roasting setup with a work bench, etc. I needed to come up with something where I could easily take all of the gear and throw in a box when not in use. The little fan works quite well as it can quickly be turned horizontal to cool the beans after roasting. Beans took approximately 3>4 minutes to reach outdoor temperature of 26 degrees (I threw my DMM copper pipe insulated bead probe in the beans as they were cooling). Lost a few beans along the way (jumpy little suckers...), final weight 212 g. The roast was off to a slow start, see below.

5 minutes > 100 degrees (decided to lower gun because I probably had it positioned for 500g, not 270.)
9 minutes >140 (lowered gun a bit more)
    14:45 minutes > 186 (FC)
    18 minutes > 200
    21:30 > 200 (SC)
23 > 200 (Decided to pull the pin, beans still crackling away when poured into colander).

    98% mess free.
