    MENI Cafe
Crown St Wollongong, corner of Osborne St (diagonally opposite Wollongong Hospital).

A new establishment being run by 3 young siblings who are demonstrating a passion for coffee.
Serving up beans from Mecca on a Dalla Corte (which they are thinking of changing to a LaMarzocco soon).
They've only been open a few weeks and are already doing a good job. Started with some different beans but they weren't happy so kept searching and settled on Mecca beans. They've also had Mecca consult on their cafe and are sending staff up to Mecca to refine their techniques.
They're already talking about introducing some filtered coffee as well.
Great to see some young people on the right track, showing passion in a town where most cafes couldn't care less because people buy the crap they make regardless. These 2 bros and sis are determined to keep improving until they're serving the best coffee they are able to.

So, if you're in Wollongong Hospital duck over the road to MENI for your coffee and give these young guys some encouragement. I can guarantee any coffee you buy inside the hospital will be competing with instant for the 'worst of the worst' title.

    Thanks for that suggestion Pavoniboy.

I also enjoy coffee at Lower East.
    70 Crown St, Wollongong.

They serve up Single Origin Roasters.

I live just down the road from Meni, and if I didn't already make my own delicious coffee I would likely have an account.
Lower east is the pick of that end of town though I'm yet to try the organic place on Burrelli street.

          An update on MENI Cafe.

They've upgraded the equipment to a Robur and LaMarzocco. They've got a 2nd robur which they're planning on using for single origins in future too.

Sorry, I've not been away for a while - if you haven't found it already, it's between Keira and Kenny streets on the southern side.

I recently visited the Gong and It was my mission to find the best coffee..And I think I found it. I visited " Swell Coffee ", a beautiful little shop located in a small alleyway off the mall. Great service, GREAT coffee ( which they roast themselves). They sold a variety of roasted single origing coffee, good quality chocolate, thermo cups, grinders etc.......It is always a relief when your double FW turns up with a dark top, tasted beautiful and a beautiful rosetta on it. If anyone is ever in Wollongong then visit Swell, please..

Mrs Krusty had an overnighter in the Gong, and enjoyed her coffee at Lee and Me 87 Crown St. Several bean options and brew methods.

Swell coffee has had a re-brand as Runner Duck. All espresso coffees are double naked shots. Also nitro on tap. Mike roasting on site. Swell continuing to roast in Coniston and supplying local cafes. A

Looks like the Swell website is still up - are they keeping the Swell branding for the coffee distribution, and just changing the name/brand of the Cafe just off Crown Street mall?

I had an excellent coffee in Wollongong Central but can't seem to find the name of the place on the website. It was just a small hole in the wall cafe serving espresso & batch.
They roasted their own beans too.

I also like Black Market Roasters in Thirroul.
