  • Far South Coast NSW - Merimbula

Having moved into the area 5 months ago, it has been an interesting journey finding good coffee..... after walking along the Merimbula Boardwalk, I found a little Kiosk/Boat hire place where I reluctantly tried their coffee - and was very pleasantly surprised.

Owners Robbie and Pete pay attention to detail, keeping their coffee gear meticulously clean. Using the Sapphire Blend from Moruya Roaster, Alfresco, the coffee is consistently good, day after day.

Simple kiosk style food is also on offer, I can highly recommend the bacon and egg roll.

A little gem in a beautiful position on the water.

    =Hennessy Coffee from Sydney.......

Or at least last time I visited their shop they weren't doing any roasting in Moruya.

Be good for the area if they did start their own roasting gig.

The only local roast I know of is Montague in Narooma. I believe there is a small 1 or 2 kg roaster in Cobargo

but I've not actually come across the product.

    Beautiful part of the world!!

Booktique in Merimbula used to do good coffee, but I think it has changed hands recently, or perhaps closed (I hope not).

The coffee at Wild Rye's Baking Company in Pambula is excellent and everything is roasted on the premises. Well worth visiting if in the area. They have a web site with details of the coffees they offer

That's a good heads up Beanz, cheers, ....great to know someone else is on the job, roasting on the South Coast!

Some familiar beans in their arsenal.......

I'll stop by next time I'm up that way

I'd agree that Wild Rye is excellent, although the coffee can be a bit hit and miss. Chokkidog, I think you'll find that Alfresco is now roasting and offering additional services to the far south coast, which as you say is a fantastic bonus!

Cool. When I spoke to them ( guy called Sam?) last they said they were headed that way..... good to know they have chosen the righteous path. ;-)

Was in town this weekend and wound up at Wild Rye... Milk was superheated so it was difficult to judge quality of the shot.

                Pastries were excellent, though.

Had a very nice flat white at a place called Sprout in Eden, beans apparently grown in NSW.

Great coffee. Flat white - full flavour, well balanced, crema bite with depth of flavour.

Well balanced espresso and even cold drip coffee.

Varies slightly day to day depending who's on but in fuve days havent had a bad coffee yet.
