i guess it depends what you are going there for...At simply beans i only use to get beans and if the bigger guy was working the machine i may get my complimentary coffee, if it was anyone else i would just take the fresh beans home and make my own its probably been about 6 months since i've been there also.

If i was going there to sit down and enjoy the atmosphere, it may be a different story if i got a sub par flat white

I had a mocha at Simply Beans, Underwood this morning.

Pretty darn good coffee for this hard to please snob.
Well worth a visit.

The hardest decision was which beans to choose, from the 5 grinders sitting there...........

I find Simply Beans a bit hit and miss for my liking... It was always my go-to in Underwood (I lived within 5 minutes) before Extraction opened up. Too variable depending on who was pulling shots...

I popped in for a coffee just then as I was around the corner getting materials for a job.

The coffee was really really good, got a double ristretto of the single origin they had available. Didn't know this place existed until this thread, coffee is on par if not better than the top cafes around brisbane.

Double ristretto eh?

Alex the owner told me they opened in April this year.
It was buzzing the other morning, so they must be doing something right.............

Their website (which I won't post here but easily found on Google) has some useful info. One thing is a movie night (events tab), the story of Sasa Sestic on Tues 29th Nov at 6.30pm. Looks like it's a good story.

Yes, the coffee was good David, as are the staff. There's no doubting that and I'm glad I went. I think I got the last available parking space which wasn't surprising mid morning.

The first visit to a different coffee shop always seems a bit "strange" for want of a better word. Different brand of beans used, machine and barista methods can vary a bit etc.

I'd give them a 10/10

It's about a 40 min drive each way from where we live on the east side so unless there was a reason to be in the area (coffee) it's not a quick dash for a drink.

Finally made it to Extraction Artisan Coffee at Underwood.

It appears to be a thriving enterprise which is encouraging to see. Sat there for a good while to observe it all as it was a hive of activity at about 9.30/10 ish, Thurs morning.

Before leaving, I got to talk to Alex briefly and then Danny for advice re beans.

looks interesting.... i do like how some of these industrial sheds are becoming funky coffee haunts. Similar to one around the corner off compton road and a couple in the valley. I will have to check it out next week when i start running dry.

Simply beans on Compton Road? I think I posted about them here a few years ago. He's come a long way since then... Yeah here is it.

I've found my new regular coffee hangout. Extraction Artisan Coffee, tucked away not too far from Ikea in Logan. This is by far the best coffee I've found in the Logan area. Alex, the owner and Danny, the roaster and all of the staff are always friendly and on for a chat.

If you're in the area, you simply must check them out!

The menu is great. The blueberry cured salmon is great if you're a salmon kind of person. I can't go past the poached eggs on sourdough...

If Danny is on the machine (dreadlocks), tell him David recommended you. He should know it's me...
