    Long drive from QLD Herbies!

A mate of mine went to the Aussie Superbikes there earlier this year, loved the track and the campgrounds. It's going to be amazing when they finish all the tracks (kart and drag coming soon and I heard a rumour of a standing mile... hope that's true too).

Great story behind the owner Dr Sam Shahin who came to Australia with refugee parents, got educated, worked and played hard and now owns a top 100 company and has built himself a world-class race track with a hotel in the middle of nowhere so he can play with his GT3 Porsche! Anything is possible in the lucky country.

      Hi Andy,
What you have said about the Tailem Bend track is all true and it is mind blowing including a 100 room Rydges Hotel.
No, we did not make a special trip from Brisbane just to see the race track. The scenario was that we flew to Darwin to join a Fun Over 50's tour that included "The Ghan Expedition" (including as many great free espresso coffees as we could drink ) to Adelaide. After that we hired a car, caught up with rellies and then did a day trip to Tailem Bend as well as Birdwood Motor Museum (incredible!!) on the way back to Adelaide after which we flew back to Brissie.
      Cheers Herbie and the Missus.

(sorry everyone for taking the good coffee where so far off topic but it's still sort of to do with the area at least!)

Wow, excellent trip with the Ghan too makes it planes, trains and automobiles.

Zed and I did Birdwood on the way to Lake Gairdner in March, we loved it too, from the first time seeing a Bugati Veyron in the flesh to seeing lots of my old bikes and cars it was hard not to have a story about nearly every second vehicle in there.

The Bend (and the OTR service station on the corner) was still under heavy construction in March but they were racing on fresh bitumen a couple of weeks after we went through.
