  • Best shots in the CBD?

Any thoughts on the best espresso in the CBD? Just espresso and maybe long black, no milk.

Of course in theory the better cafes should be the same for shots as for milk drinks, but often I'm left uninspired by their shots even when their lattes are half way decent, such is the forgiveness of well steamed milk.

The reason I ask is that lately I've been reducing my milk intake, purely for calorie control.

I'll kick off by nominating Cup of Truth as being the only place I go to regularly that can pull awesome shots as well as great milk drinks, but of course there must be some others in the CBD?

Also, are there any good lever cafes in the CBD? Journal have a lever but the coffee there isn't to my taste.

    Cheers

I'm yet to find one that is consistent.
I've had a couple of good ones at Toby's estate but in saying that the last time not so good as I received a 15ml ristretto when asking for an espresso.
Still to try C of T though.
Sadly for real espresso drinkers, just about all the focus is on milk drinks, ie; art, texture and fancy names, so a good old espresso can be difficult to come by.

At cup of truth, Courtney (the big guy) pulls exceptional shots. The rest of his team are good, well above average, but Courtney seems to really get the best from his Synesso with complex, balanced shots that make your day.

65 degrees I've found to always be good for an espresso. Multiple grinders with different SOs and baristas that can pull great shots.

Cup of Truth and Brother Baba Budan pull a good shot.

I’ll second Brother Budan - my pick for consistent quality

Decoy are pretty good, they roast their own and have different bean options.
