Working out the most economical freight rate per KG then ordering the appropriate quantity of beans is always a bit of a juggling act.

Shipping is a fat monster which is why most people just pick a random number and charge that amount.
We use actual live freight calculations so it's a big job for the server and it's unlikely to appear all through the checkout process anytime soon (but might one day).
Fastway Flat Rate cartons are 17.5kg maximum, Australia Post eParcel has a maximum of 20kg but these boundaries can change so that's only really true today while I'm typing. If the freight companies change we adjust BeanBay to suit so it always shows the correct information at the end of the checkout.

Just a note to say how good the beanbay experience is each time I use it. Every page has the information you want to know, navigation is great and you get detailed shipping information with a ton of options. Instant bank payments are now nice to have. Green beans get shipped almost immediately after making my order!
I don't know how feasible it is but having live shipping options/prices (so you could see how much each option is as you add things to your cart) would be my only wish-list item (perhaps on a sidebar on the right of the page). At the moment I have to navigate back and forth changing kgs with a bit of trial and error to see when various options jump about (e.g. fastway @ 17.5kg I think). The automatic $/kg calculation is very useful, keep that there!

Yeah that's the basic idea. The PC has a Certificate that is uses to encrypt the traffic, which the Fortigate knows how to decrypt and inspect, and then encrypts the traffic with it's own cert and talks to the website as you. It allows it to inspect the encrypted traffic otherwise when Joe Bloggs is on a dodgy malware site which is https you won't know about it until it hits the endpoint inside the firewall. It's a good tool to have in your arsenal but can be difficult to maintain (esp with a 4000-odd machines around the globe in different domains, forests etc even with group policy) and it is uber fussy on certs. Some we never understand why it doesn't like it and end up whitelisting - if a legit site. (it is hard to tell another company to update their website Cert because your Firewall doesn't like it - well unless they are like the very accommodating CoffeeSnobs :-).Originally posted by Andy View PostYes, that was my thought too, "man at the end as opposed to the traditional man in the middle"
The AVG and Fortigate both "hack" into SSL packets they should leave alone, if the linked Root CA intermediate certificate took too long to lookup it could cause that issue too.

Looks like man-in-the-middle attack to me.Originally posted by Andy View PostCert provider, TTL, time on server etc were all okay. Chrome and other browsers here all show the certificate to be valid too. Everyone that has had trouble were using AVG on *nix so the link is there somewhere but not all AVG and not a *nix.
This morning I have renewed the certificate and it tests fine both here and off-site: https://www.digicert.com/help/
...so hopefully it was just a glitch in the *nix lookup of the Root CA intermediate certificate and renewing it will set things right!
Some advanced firewalls like FortiGate can do it automatically. They call it "SSL inspection".
Quick googling shows that AVG got a feature called "AVG Web Shield". Which is a man-in-the-middle too.
These days everyone wants to spy on you.
Stay alarmed!

I posted about express post price increase here but then decided it made more sense in the News section.

...so you 'aint losing your mind if you saw it here earlier this afternoon.

Thanks for testing Rockford.
I'm not much the wiser to the original problem but the SSL certificate equivalent of "shut up and reboot" seems to have fixed it.

I get ssl errors through our Fortigate firewalls. It doesn’t like the cert for some reason (short TTL on it maybe, or cert provider). Only for Beanbay, forum is ok. Had to use an external adsl line to buy my beans.

Ugh...
AVG and its offshoots. Has caused more trouble over the years than anything it has purported to solve...
Mal.
