No, this thread is part of the "for sale" section of the forum and should be treated that way with the exception of the odd comment or question but this in depth discussion on price, availability, warranty, support etc has gone too far and really is not helping Dan.
So for goodness sake can we let Dan get on with selling his item !

my $0.02, it's a forum. If you can't deal with that, then there's plenty of other places (gumtree, fleabay, monkeyplace ........)

For those playing at home buy direct yes you may get cheaper but if want support you need to pay the premium for a local business.
direct these are £499 + £90 shipping with a rough exchange of 0.55 that’s $1070AUD or around $1200 if get held and have to pay GST on the way in. If have a warranty issue enjoy sending back to UK for a fix.
So a fair figure Is $1200 direct with no support or buy local and have support.
I didn’t see too many people buy espresso machine from italy direct?
personally the annoying part is that this issue was caused by Niche themselves.
danlatter do yourself a favour, close this thread and start a new one, post a picture of the invoice (hide personal details) to show your not trying to scalp people and have a mob come after you (it’s good people are protective but gee), and find your grinder a new home.

Yeah but the elephant in the room is as mentioned above you have forum sponsors selling it for $800 above the landed price on a forum where you can't sell that same item used for above the direct import price without getting a hard time.
It is a tricky one as by the same token you could import one as a CS newbie after making a dozen token replies to post and then list it for $1,500. Which is exactly what the rules are designed to prevent.
Generally, "hey that's a nice item but you can buy it here cheaper is pretty poor form" on any for sale thread let the buyers do their own research on deals etc.
But to be fair maybe just leave it to the mods (to remove if a listing breaches the rules) and buyers (to make offers via PM and post a reply) instead of every man and his dog (myself included) having an opinion.

Yes up to a point but this is a for sale section of this web site and as such is similar but not exactly the same as specific selling web sites like gumtree. The odd comment is OK but this thread, in my view has gone too far. I've sold many times on this forum and the last thing I want to see when selling an item is an over the top discussion on price and opinions.

Why? I genuinely don't understand.
Forum user posts an item and a price. Other forum users provide commentary/questions about the value. Where's the beef?
I hope Dan gets a price he's happy with. I hope a buyer gets a grinder they're happy with.
But this is a forum, not an internet auction house. There are other places to sell things if you don't want comments or questions from the cs community.
*Caveat emptor*? Really? Goodbye friendly community. Hello "free" market economics.

If I was Dan I would be really crapped off that this thread has been hijacked in the way it has. He's offered a price so people can either take it at that price, make an offer or reject it completely. If someone thinks that his asking price is unrealistic and wants to help him then maybe it might be more appropriate to send a PM rather than hearing about their wonderful and money saving buying experiences.

Nobody’s having a laugh, Dan. I think what you’re experiencing here is what can happen naturally when a forum has a for sale section. Threads can get a bit hijacked, and that’s maybe what’s happened to you here. But this is an educated and opinionated community and the Niche (and therefore your ad) has raised a bit of discussion.

I dislike the rule of I’m honest. Let the free market decide the price, not the landed rule! If someone wants to line up and import to flip on here for a profit, at a rate that is lower than the retail locally/ allows us to skip the queue, then let them do it IMO. That’s an offering some would pay for I’m sure!

I paid just over $1000 for brand new delivered to my house from Niche.

Yeh, I think the purpose of the rule is to stop people importing them and flipping them in a restricted market soon after. That's clearly not what is going on here.
And the rule does not specify when landed cost is measured (i.e. at the time of the original purchase, or now). I would have thought that the intention was to measure the landed cost at the the time of the original purchase.
