Hey mate
which nut is that? The one where it attaches to the boiler or the OPV assembly itself? Mine seemed to come apart easy enough fortunately. Only other thing I can think of is Penetrene or equivalent (maybe something food safe!) to help with freeing things up?

Looks gorgeous! Sorry to crash your post, but I'm attempting to mod my Silvia and I'm struggling to undo the OPV locking nut. Any tips? I don't want to use brute force and break something.

That is absolutely beautiful! One of the best looking restores around! I'm sure it has been a hard decision to let it go after all your efforts, although I'm sure somebody else will get to benefit from it.

I'm not 100% on the actual colour to be honest! I was at the powder coater's and picked it from sample charts haha. Probably should have paid more attention!!

[PER] Rancilio Silvia - Mods / customised w PID
Hi Fellow Snobs,
Hoping that this one of a kind Silvia will find a new, loving home! I'd initially started this as a learning project, which soon turned into a full-blown refurb obsession!
Miss Silvia over here has had a complete, ground-up rebuild inclusive of:
- Base frame (and main panels) has been sand blasted and powder coated in the lovely hue of green (aptly named "Wheelie-Bin Green" by the kids) shown in photos attached. All rust in the usual spots has been fully removed of course. Top and splash panels have been spray painted in dark gray for colour contrast.
- Boiler has been split and given a thorough cleansing inside/out. A new boiler o-ring seal has been fitted as well as application of a thin bead of high temp silicone sealant between the boiler sealing faces as an insurance policy. All boiler M5 screws have also been replaced with new stainless steel ones with a touch of Loctite 8014 food grade anti-seize.
- Boiler has been wrapped in Insul-Bright for insulation.
- Brand new steam valve assembly.
- Solenoid valve assembly dismantled, thoroughly cleansed and reinstalled with new o-ring seals (2x) at mating surface to underside of grouphead.
- OPV refitted with new copper washers.
- Brand new Auber PID kit fitted, and spray painted in matching dark gray. Kit is brew only.
- Brand new Ulka EP5 water pump
- Brand new stainless water hose
- IMS shower screen and new grouphead seal.
- All threaded joints have teflon tape / jointing paste applied as required.
- Custom wood surrounds (finished in 3 coats of polyurethane varnish) and new rubber feet for base of unit.
- All switches have been thoroughly cleaned with contact cleaner / emery for terminals.
I've poured many, many hours into this and has been rebuilt to last! She deserves a good home! I've already got my ACS Vesuvius and am risking incurring the wrath of the Mrs by having this as a display piece..
I've probably missed a couple of things from the list above but happy to answer any questions you might have
Looking for $800 and local pick-up Perth only (sorry, can't bear the thought of shipping this!). Thanks!5 Photos
