I have also been asked where is the adjustable needle valve. Attached is a photo. The needle valve knob is under the coffee cup warming tray on top of the machine. Also the BZ head can be readily removed with three bolts allowing very easy access for full cleaning, group head gasket replacement and shower screen removal and cleaning. The machine is fitted with and IMS 200 IM screen.

Hi all. In response to some inquiries, the Bezzera group head is exceptional. A modern, fast and efficient technology using PID to maintain super stable group-head user-selectable temperature. IMHO a group head that is vastly superior to an E61 head. It needs to be remembered that the PID on any E61 machine cannot and does not directly control the group head temperature; rather the PID is controlling the boiler temperature only. In the case of an HX machine, controlling the main boiler or in a dual boiler machine, the PID controls the coffee boiler - but not the E61 head.

Please don't get me wrong. The E61 head was a brilliant invention in 1961. The Duo DE has three PIDs. One for the steam bolier, one for the coffee boiler and one for the BZ group head. The thermocouple for the group head temperature control is inside the group head. This ensures that the coffee temperature controllers even takes into account the heat/temperature loss between the coffee boiler and the group head. Temperature accuracy and stability are beyond compare. For those very technically-minded the Proportional, Integral and Differential values are separately settable for each PID taking into account the very different thermal time constants of the boilers and the group head. Happy to show anyone if you're curious.

    Hi there.

How long have you had this for? How much use has it had?

What would it cost to ship to the Gold Coast (4220)?

    Feel free to PM me.

    Thanks!

Bezzera DUO DE with Full Slayer Shot Upgrade

My Bezzera Duo De is just over two years old. It is a superbly engineered double-boiler machine featuring new-technology electrically heated and stabilized group head. It comes with wooden finish portafilters and levers, programmable volumetric buttons, settable pre-infusion, automatic daily on/off settings and multiple PID temperature control via a backlit LED Touchscreen.

The reason I’m selling is because I’ve upgraded to a Rocket R Nine One.

    Features

    • Bezzera proprietary heated BZ group head – very fast heat-up time and precise temperature control
    • Dual boiler
    • 1L copper steam boiler (1252w heating element)
    • 0.45L copper brew boiler (1400w heating element)
    • Head elements (2X80w heating elements)
    • Super rapid warm-up time, ready in about 10 minutes (half the time of an E61 group head)
    • All heating elements can operate simultaneously or prioritised via user settings
    • Three PID controllers – steam boiler, coffee boiler and group head.
    • The coffee boiler and group head PIDs work in sync to provide astounding temperature stability from boiler through the head to the portafilter
    • Steam and coffee temperatures separately settable
    • Programmable volumetric extraction – four settable cups
    • 4L water tank
    • Rotary pump; switchable from water tank to mains connection
    • 3.5" backlit LED touch display
    • Automatic daily On/Off Setting
    • Automatic backflush program with settable shot counter and backflush reminder
    • Settable pre-infusion wait time
    • Group head LED light
    • 100% food-grade stainless steel chassis and, frame and casing
    • Comes with single and double portafilters with wooden handles and also a genuine matching Bezzera naked portafilter.
    • Spare new Bezzera group head seal
    • Only run with ½ micron filtered water supply at 4 bars
    • Dimensions (WxDXH): 326mm x 470mm x 425mm
    • Weight: 31kg

    Unique Hydraulic/Electrical Upgrade

    • Fully engineered professional upgrade providing a Slayer shot-type flow control via an adjustable needle valve and electric control valve.
    • Same upgrade as LM mod
    • Needle valve settable to provide long slow pre-infusion - typically 0.5ml per second.
    • Switch can also be used to provide ramp down-type flow rate reduction to finish the shot
    • Allows for finer grind, zero channeling and super accurate extraction efficiency
    • Works completely in sync with the volumetric dosing providing repeatable flow control with repeatable shot volumes for all for programmed cups.
    • If not used, the shot extraction operates precisely as the stock machine.
    • A $1500 upgrade to the already superb machine.
    • See attached photos

For those snobbers in Melbourne, a demonstration and a great coffee is welcome. The machine new is $5,300 and with the $1500 upgrade, I’m asking $4,400. A unique top-end machine.
