LMAO .. yes after watching that Esmeralda auction live the other night .. maybe we should add a "reset" timer function .. as a lot of people will try to be the last bid .. flooding the server at 5pm.

Maybe .. the auction ENDS if there is a break of 2mins between bids, countdown begins at 5:00 pm ...
if no bids by 5:02 .. the last bid wins.

If someone bids at 5:01 .. then he needs to be outbid by 5:03 .. and so on  and so on

Luca its your call .. (and your rules ..  ;D  .. whats that ..a  reverse auction .. the first bidder wins .. lol )
Its already in there, but 1/2 hr instead of 2mins:

Sudden death: At the time above, the auction will continue to extend as long as people continue to place a higher bid within half an hour of the previous valid high bid. (Hey, it did wonders for the Esmeralda auction!)
    Cheers,

    Luca

    Nice work, Mark.

    I bid $14.00.

Teeheehee ... is bidding on your own auction poor form?  It wont matter, anyway, we all know that the price will skyrocket next Thursday night.  Maybe we should offer another 8 lots to drive the price of this one up ;P

    Cheers,

    Luca

*May include trace amounts of chowder at no additional cost to the winning bidder.

    Was it spicy noodles ?

    Ill kick off at $14

[edit] .. lets make this interesting ... bidding still starts at $14 ... but Ill throw in an ex-demo Kyocera Ceramic Manual Grinder as part of the prize.

And TIm Adams did actually use this at a COE cupping session at Di Bella on the 14th of Feb, 2009

    http://coffeesnobs.com.au/YaBB.pl?num=1233980463

it is also the same grinder that is pictured in my posts in the Kyocera Hand Grinder thread: http://coffeesnobs.com.au/YaBB.pl?num=1240128496

  • Fair Crack Auction: April 2009 BeanScene, signed by Tim Adams

    Hi All,

A copy of the April 2009 BeanScene cropped up at dinner in Atlanta after the WBC, so I thought that I would get Tim Adams, this years Australian Barista Champ, to sign it so that we could auction it off for Fair Crack. JP was having chowder with us and also signed it. If I run into Andy or Steve Agi with the magazine in the next few days, Ill see if they can sign it, too.

    The rules:

You are bidding on: A signed copy of the April 2009 BeanScene Magazine.* Postage included.

    Bid format: Post below.

    Starting bid: $14.00.

    Bid increments: Multiples of $2.00.

    Bidding begins: NOW!

Bidding ends: Thursday 28 May, 5:00pm Melbourne time.

Sudden death: At the time above, the auction will continue to extend as long as people continue to place a higher bid within half an hour of the previous valid high bid. (Hey, it did wonders for the Esmeralda auction!)

Claiming the prize: I will post to declare the winner. The winner is to PM me their postal address and purchase Fair Crack Direct donations from BeanBay to the value of their winning bid. Upon confirmation that Fair Crack has the cash, I will post the magazine to the winner.

    Have at it!

    Luca

*May include trace amounts of chowder at no additional cost to the winning bidder.
