!!SOLD!! Diadema Unico Splendor

It is with considerable sadness that I list for sale my Splendor. It was purchased brand new in April 09 (yes only 3 months ago) and is absolutely flawless and immaculate. It comes with the two original portofilters (single and double baskets) as well as a two month old naked group handle with triple basket.

I wont insult anyones intelligence  by trying to rattle off the specs and capabilities of this machine. However if you are interested the reviews and specs for this machine are on the internet and make great reading.

The machine has only been used sparingly (approx 3-5 espresso per week!) and the steam wand has never been used at all. The machine has to go as we are getting a new kitchen installed and it will not fit under the new kitchen cupboards. I will however be looking at getting a shorter machine (aka Bezzera BZ99) so if a sponsor would like to strike a deal Id love to hear from you.

Mr Sledge Hammer can often make the extra room desired after the refit, and the Splendor is so sexy, nobody would notice the debris!

My wife tells me that o/head cupboards in the kitchen are sooo last century :.... I reckon a rethink is definitely warranted....

Hi Jim,

Perhaps you might like to inform your prospectives as to whether your machine is a Splendor maxi (ball jointed steam wand) or the regular Splendor which has a wand that rotates through an arc?

Thanks for all the comments thus far.

To clarify a question raised by 2mcm. I assume my machine is the regular Splendor as it has the arc-traversing wands (not the ball joints) - you learn something new everyday.

Apologies for butting in with no relevant input as to your intended sale but.....

There is no disrespect intended, but from a straight equipment comparison my personal view is you are making a mistake.

You should first take your Splendor to a vendor that sells BZ99s and who will let you do a one on one comparison side by side with your machine. Pick someone who you think is fair and not just wanting to push a new BZ onto you.

You can then decide whether you will make a small accommodation to one cupboard, if you decide to keep the Splendor.

In any case, I understand you gotta to do what you gotta do.....

Attilio, thanks for expressing your thoughts, you make a very good point. I am fully aware that it is impossible to compare a Splendor with the BZ99 as the two machines are in different leagues. However I find myself in a situation where "physically" it cant be accommodated. I hear yours as well as fellow CSs (correctly) suggesting that redesigning the kitchen is the way to go however, this option has been very carefully considered but unfortunately is not viable.

Given the space I will have available for the coffee machine in the new kitchen, any option I go for will sadly be inferior to the Splendor. At the moment the only options to choose from are the BZ99 or one of those inbuilt automatic machines. Faced with such a scenario, I would pick the BZ99 anyday.

Let me be clear and say that this machine represents an absolute bargain for someone.
