With the arrival of Giotto and Luigi Mazzer Mini, it’s time for Silvia and her friend Rocky to say goodbye
I purchased Silvia and Rocky with base new in September 2005.
The PID kit from Jim is the top of the range Watlow SD3C 1/32 DIN unit with steam control and was purchased and installed in November 2007. This means in addition to the tight brew boiler control a PID provides, it also overrides the steam thermostat so as soon as the temperature starts to drop during steaming the heating element comes back on to maintain as much steam as possible. I love it.
The machine has normal surface scratches on the top plate as would be expected with a machine thats had some use, but in general it is in very good condition. There is one small spot of surface rust under the drip tray on the iron frame.
What’s Included:
* Rancilio Silvia
* Group handle with original double and single baskets
* Original plastic tamper
* 2 spare original group gaskets
* Blind filter
* Rancilio Rocky – Doser model
* Stainless Steel 2 drawer matching base for Silvia, Rocky and bits and pieces
* Manuals – Silvia, Rocky and PID including PID install CD
The machines have been well looked after. Silvia has been regularly backwashed and de-scaled, not that I ever saw any. I have recently overhauled the steam valve. The steam wand does not leak and neither does the porta filter. Rocky has been regularly cleaned and I use Grindz tablets. Over the 4 years I’ve had Silvia and Rocky, they have typically made 10 cups per week.
All up, the new price is over $1800 – I’m asking $1200 o.n.o. My preference is to sell the package complete, but will see how it goes. I live in the Wollongong area and would prefer pick up, but am willing to post at buyer’s expense. Anyone wanting to see them in action, please PM me.
EDIT: Individual asking prices:
* PID Silvia plus accessories $900 ono
* Rocky $300 ono
* Stainless steel base $100 ono
Cheers
