Ive used it with a reservoir before, the pump just has to be primed. There are a couple of serious parties at the moment and I should know whether its sold or not by about November 5 but Ill post back if its still here after that.
Hi Greg,
A question (if your machine is still for sale). I am no expert at this, so I assume this is a plumbed in machine, if so, does it have to be done permanently by a plumber, or can you run it with a a water reservoir in some fashion? I was thinking of using it occasionally for fundraising (we run a charity bicycle ride in support of a special school that we started. If I cant sell a few coffees to a couple of hundred bike riders there is something wrong). This would mean moving it occasionally.
regards
David
Nearly sold twice then circumstances beyond the control of the interested parties came up and changed things. :-[ So still available.
BTW there are two portafilters included, one with a single spout and basket and one with a double spout and basket. Both came with the machine so are reasonably old but have been rechromed so that part of them looks pretty schmick.
Well really the better grinder you can get the better of course, but the EM0480 is normally the cheapest grinder youll find recommended on here, around $180-$200. Of course a better grinder should really be on your shopping list and the Sunbeam will look pretty dwarfed next to the Faema, but looks aside it should keep you going for a little while until you can upgrade.
Alternatively check out the other second-hand grinders, there may be some bargains to be had there particularly if the sellers of the two brand new items are prepared to negotiate a bit. I see a brand new EM0480 and a brand new Rocky, as well as an ascaso i-mini which would be a better proposition than the Sunbeam if its in good nick.
Hi Greg, I havent posted for a while,I am after a new machine but like everyone else have a champagne taste on a root beer budget,
I just measured up my counter & this machine would just fit Just!
what is the cheapest grinder that would be suitable for this machine?
I know the grinder is important , but having sold my silvia /rocky combo (doh) & buying a Gaggia Titanium auto ( I know I miss real coffee but not the temperament of silvia) I am on A tight leach & the missus is given me the hairy eyeball as we speak.
:-/
Cheers
Brett
These machines are not as big as you think...either that or you get used to them quickly. I took the attachment of my second steam wand and just purchased the arm and socket from coffeeparts ($65 from memory) and she now has dual wands. Its dead easy and cheap to do.
