  • !!SOLD!! Faema Express 2 group 10 amp

Some of you may remember I purchased an second-hand Faema 2 group last year with the intention of fixing it all up and using it in our house.
The full thread on the restoration can be found at http://coffeesnobs.com.au/YaBB.pl?num=1223984930/. Well I got the first bit right and the unit fired up beautifully, but we then moved house, ran out of kitchen room and I ended up with the Expobar.

So sadly the Faema has sat unused for approaching 12 months now.   Its a real shame because I fixed it all up with the express intention of keeping it so I went to the bother to replace numerous things that didnt really need it just because I could. I even went to the bother of drawing up a plumbing diagram of where all the pipes went on the computer so I had a neat record for future use (bottom pic below). Anyway whats done is done, but in light of all that I cant bear to have it just sitting around unused any longer so am offering it up to any CSers who may be interested.

Ideal for anyone who has the room for a 2 group machine and doesnt want to shell out $2k+ for a prosumer. The boiler has three heating elements but only one is connected which means it runs safely on a regular 10A supply. If you have a 15A outlet you could connect another one up for faster heatup / recovery.

Asking $1200, located in Adelaide. Sensible offers will be considered providing its going to a good home. Freight will probably be about $150 but Ill provide an exact quote to anyone whos interested as this will somewhat depend on your location.

    Greg

The photo below is when the restoration was completed. Nothing has changed that Im aware of except the copperwork under the lid is probably a bit tarnished now.

Greg could you please provide a photo of the back panel?

My brother will soon be moving back into his newly extended/renovated house. His kitchen bench is massive so Im trying to covince him that anything less than a 2 group commercial will look too small.

Here tis. Also dimensions in millimetres: 765(w) x 580(d) x 480(h). The depth includes the depth of the knobs, fascia of the machine would be about 50mm shallower than that.

Also in case someone wants to stand it on a counter rather than backing in against a wall, theres 330mm from the back of the back feet to the front of the front feet.

Note that it only has the right steam wand on it at present. Originally it had some cappuccinatore attachment on the left wand but since it was only ever going to be used by one person at a time I didnt bother purchasing a new steam wand. Im pretty sure its available from coffeeparts however, one reason I got this was due to the huge number of spares they have for Faemas (not that you should need any after the amount of new parts its had through it! :)

These machines are not as big as you think...either that or you get used to them quickly. I took the attachment of my second steam wand and just purchased the arm and socket from coffeeparts ($65 from memory) and she now has dual wands. Its dead easy and cheap to do.

              Cheers

                Hi,
Just a quick question. Do the filter holders come with it?
                regards

Yep and filter baskets and spouts. At least two portfilters, maybe three, cant quite recall but can check if you really need to know.

Hi Greg, I havent posted for a while,I am after a new machine but like everyone else have a champagne taste on a root beer budget,
I just measured up my counter & this machine would just fit Just!
what is the cheapest grinder that would be suitable for this machine?

I know the grinder is important , but having sold my silvia /rocky combo (doh) & buying a Gaggia Titanium auto ( I know I miss real coffee but not the temperament of silvia) I am on A tight leach & the missus is given me the hairy eyeball as we speak.
                    :-/
                    Cheers
                    Brett

Re: FS: Faema Express 2 group 10 amp

                      Hi Brett,

Well really the better grinder you can get the better of course, but the EM0480 is normally the cheapest grinder youll find recommended on here, around $180-$200. Of course a better grinder should really be on your shopping list and the Sunbeam will look pretty dwarfed next to the Faema, but looks aside it should keep you going for a little while until you can upgrade.

Alternatively check out the other second-hand grinders, there may be some bargains to be had there particularly if the sellers of the two brand new items are prepared to negotiate a bit. I see a brand new EM0480 and a brand new Rocky, as well as an ascaso i-mini which would be a better proposition than the Sunbeam if its in good nick.

Let me know if youd like to move on the machine.

                      Greg

Nearly sold twice then circumstances beyond the control of the interested parties came up and changed things. :-[ So still available.

BTW there are two portafilters included, one with a single spout and basket and one with a double spout and basket. Both came with the machine so are reasonably old but have been rechromed so that part of them looks pretty schmick.
