!!SOLD!!: Gino Rossi MC Conical

Hi CSers,

My Gino Rossi MC conical grinder is now for sale. It has done approx 5 to 6 Kgs only and is in as new condition. Pick up from 3083 or can post at buyers expense. if you require more pics or information, please pm me. Cheers

Hopper Capacity: 1.2 Kgs
Grinding Blades: conical 43.5mm diameter
Output of approximately 18 kg per hour
Dimensions: 220mm (W) x 365mm (D) x 660mm (H)

It is advertised at $2199 but I have seen it on special for $2000 and I am willing to let it go at $1100 ono plus post. Now reduced to $900. I can post it with its original box and instruction manual. It weighs about 20 to 25 Kgs and will suit fussy coffee drinker.

Im struggling to find any more info on this grinder on the net. Can you tell me what speed the burrs spin at and how many seconds it takes to grind a 17 gram double?

Also, is this the Gino Rossi that stops operating if the doser lid is removed?

Hi Acog, the doser lid is screwed into the doser itself by 2 philips head screws. This was done by the manufacturer and I believe it may be for safety purposes. From what I can see, these screws can be removed if need be. An auto stop - micro switch mechanism seems to be installed in the doser. As for the other questions , I will view the instruction manual later tonight as Im now off to Easter lunch.

Ill run some beans through mine in the morning for you and time it.

The lid on mine comes off and there is an auto-stop switch inside the doser.

Had a close look this morning at the hopper lid; I can see where the screws have been removed from.

Timing:
Weighed out 20g into my usual spare double basket and ran through the Macap for my 2nd coffee of the day (look for the nice rosetta in the appropriate thread).
Came in at just over 30 sec (when I heard the beans stop grinding).

Drank my coffee and headed out to the garage with another 20g of the same beans to try in the Gino.

Having no more than 20g in the throat did result in one bean refusing for a moment or two to fall into the maw of death so the approximate time (when all but that bean had sacrificed themselves for the cause) will be close enough for this comparison.

Result for the Gino - under 10 sec.

So the Gino Rossi grinds 20g of beans approx. 3 times faster than the Macap.

ACog asked me if I thought the Gino would be OK in a "grind on demand" cafe.

Two answers for him to make up his own mind.

1) The Gino is rated at 18kg per hour.
2) An old post by Atttilio comparing the CC45 which is only rated at 9kg/hr http://coffeesnobs.com.au/YaBB.pl?num=1159414674

Acog, here are the details that you requested. I have taken a picture directly from the instruction manual.
I saw one of these grinders on the preparation bench at a Hudsons cafe the other day.

Mischa also has a good point, If the hopper were full, the weight of the beans on top would effectively feed the grinder, so 10 seconds is possibly on the slower side of this grinders capabilities.

I agree as well. Hence my mentioning that last bean.

It was however a direct comparison with the Macap because both were not being fed by the weight of beans in a full(er) hopper.

I figured it was going to cost me quite a few more fresh beans to try and freedose a double basket worth and as the Gino hasnt yet been cleaned to my satisfaction Im not drinking what comes through it atm.

It was good info for me too as I hadnt timed them both before.

Id figure that interest via PM or lack thereof will dictate 2nd hand market price Peppino  :-?

Update: Gino Rossi has been sold. Thanks to all that were interested.

News flash: Via venezia buyer didnt come through therefore its still for sale. Im now reducing the price to $300 plus post or pick up from 3083. This is the new and improved version as you can see from the picture with the newer buttons.
