!!SOLD!!: Silvia with 935 PID Kit and shot timer
Silvia one owner since September 2007, PID kit fitted May 2009.
Silvia has the countersunk shower screen mod, the irksome flakey chrome surround has been replaced with a brand new one for the sale, not even used yet.
The PID is a PID Kits 935 kit, not a DIY mod but a proper professional kit from site sponsor PID kits over on the left, or click here and follow the prompts for details on the 935, its a refurb controller kit, new facia and terminals I believe, before ordering it Jim Galt assured me as to the quality of the controller. It is fitted with a shot timer which I have found to be very handy. In use the brew switch needs to be turned on and the shot is controlled using PID buttons. I can go into more details via PM.
This PID installation is unusual in that a heater cut out relay kit, supplied by PID Kits has been fitted, it cuts out the heater during the shot. I originally monitored boiler temp with a thermocouple and after fitting the PID I found I prefered the taste I was getting using the thermocouple, Jim supplied the cut out relay, it results in a slightly falling temp similar to a HX so Im told, I preferred it to the slightly rising response when the PID kicked in. It can easily be removed if the buyer wished.
The PID is fitted in to the larger 1/16 enclosure, a switch was installed below the PID to control another mod I had installed, the mod and switch have been removed and a blanking grommet covers the hole.
The PID is attached using PID Kits mounting system so it can be completely removed if so desired if the buyer dosent like the look of the mounting hardware the PID enclosure can be directly attached by drilling a hole and using a bulkhead fitting.
I have owned Silvia since new, I think its important to note the over temp thermostat has never been tripped, also brew pressure has been set to 9 bar. Also new group seal and steam tap washer and orings have been fitted within the last 12 months they are still good.
Silvias usual usage pattern is one double on weekdays and a few a day on weekends. General condition I believe is what would be expected for the usage, some cup marks on on the top plate, I gave the top plate a rub up by hand with Autosol and got most but not all off. Cup marks on the drip tray cover what I would expect from normal usage. A abrasion on the side, it looks worse in the photo than real life, I dont know how it happened, also a couple of internal rivet nuts turn when undoing screws its just a matter of gripping them with long nosed pliers or wedgeing a screw driver against them if undoing, nothing to be concerned about but they are there.
Price is $790.00, Location Melbourne outer south east, of course I would prefer pickup but I can have it packed, shipping at buyers expense. If no takers I will split it and sell Silvia and PID seperately.
[edit]Damn Forgot to add baskets supplied are the standard Rancilio single and double, also documentation supplied is Silvia booklet of course and PID Kits installation CD, shot timer instructions plus a 935 manual I downloaded[/edit]
