    Re: Wanted Goffee Grinder

    Yeah,

Value for money is a confusing and sometimes vexing issue. In the end though, I think the best you can do is buy "the best you can afford". If you cant afford a Mazzer Mini (I cant) then dont buy a Mazzer Mini..... in the end, the best grinder I could afford to buy was a Rocky D/L after saving my pennies for quite a while but given how important a good quality grinder is to the final fulfilment of achieving that elusive (sometimes ) excellent shot of espresso on a consistent basis, then I dont think it is all that wise in the end to cave in to impatience and purchase a grinder that will ultimately cause you much frustration.

Remember, drinking excellent coffee is what it is all about, not trying to tear your hair out with endeavours to make a less than optimum grinder do an almost adequate job. The catch phrase is "consistently good" and that is where the less than optimum grinders fall short.

    My two bobs worth
    Mal.

Agree with you Mal, but Id flesh out two more things

      (a) More expensive is not necessarily better. For example, I think that the Diadema grinder is functionally the same as the Isomac grinder, which is the same as the Lux grinder, but they all seem to cost significantly different amounts.

      (b) In terms of consistently good, there seem to be a few grinders that deliver consistent particle size, but few that allow you to consistently adjust the grind to exactly where you want it to be.

      Cheers,

      L

Too true on both counts [smiley=happy.gif],
