Is this the Premium Plus model, or is there a seperate Premium model - I can only find info on the plus version. If they are different, do you know what the differences are?
My searching tells me this is a HX machine. If this is the case, can it steam milk & pour esspresso at the same time?

The machine is an ECM Premium Giotto & as trentski said there is a lot of information about this machine & the Plus model on CS.
Yes, you can definatley pull shots whilst steaming milk at the same time.

It could easily be the last machine you ever need to buy.

That looks like the ECM Giotto Premium as compared to the Rocket Giotto Premium plus. There is a fair bit on info on CS about both.

It is a HX (heat exchanger) for sure. You can certainly brew espresso and steam milk at the same time.

No need to be sorry, and it is not a dumb question when youre simply wanting to know. When you dont search and find out, you wont know.

Whoever picks up that Giotto will have certainly done well. Im surprised it has not gone yet.

Sorry for the dumb questions, but I dont know anything about machines at this level. I have a Sunbeam, and am looking to upgrade. I have no idea if this machine is suitable for me, but its near my price range.

Not really...

It uses a brew water pre-heat design to reduce thermal shock within the Brew Boiler. This is, by its very nature a Heat Exchanger but the machine is not a Heat eXchanger machine by differentiation compared to the likes of a Giotto et al....

I think you missunerstood my post as I never mentioned that the Giotto was a "HX Twin Boiler". What I said was I have upgraded to a Twin Boiler machine. In other words I have "Purchased" a new Twin Boiler coffee machine(Izzo Alex Duetto II).
In answer to your queery, what is your "Budget" ?

No such animal mate...

A machine can be a Heat eXchanger (HX) machine with a single boiler where the HX circuit is used to heat the Brew Water as it passes through the boiler. A Dual Boiler machine uses two separate boilers, one for Steam Generation and the other purely for Brew Water.

In most cases, the Brew Water Boiler uses a PID Controller to manage the water temperature whereas HX machines will use a Pressurestat to manage the Steam Pressure inside the Boiler and therefore water temperature too.... 8-)
