  • !!SOLD!!: La Pavoni Europiccola manual lever espresso machine

    Hi Guys,

Up for sale is my beautiful La Pavoni Europiccola manual lever espresso machine in its original box. I bought this new on 19th December 1998 from Euroespresso Machine Co in Sydney when I lived there. From then till early 2005 it would have averaged less than 1 coffee a day (usually Caffe Lattes).

I then needed a machine that was easy enough for my 70+ year old Italian mother to use when she came to visit so I reluctantly bought a Gaggia super auto. Step down in coffee quality but easier to use. As a result the La Pavoni ended up as a display piece on top of my fridge and then packed away for the last few years. I just couldn’t part with it.

I’ve just recently bought a 2nd hand HX machine so this and the Gaggia finally had to go.

This machine is ready to go because in preparation for the sale I stripped most of the machine down, cleaned what I could and replaced all gaskets / rubber rings. As you can see in the pics, I polished up the boiler siphon tube and main brass piston. I also applied food grade grease (Inox MX6) to main piston gaskets and on steam arm attachment. About the only gasket I didn’t replace is the one between the boiler and base of the machine which appears fine. The kit was bought either just before or just after I stopped using it and I think it was around $60. I descaled the machine with a citric acid solution and cleaned the portafilter and filter baskets with Clean Machine espresso machine cleaner/backflush powder. I also just replaced the chrome release valve tube with a new one as I accidentally snapped it years ago.

Doing a few test runs after I put it back together, it is pulling great shots and running beautifully. The only issue I spotted while testing is that the light on the power switch would flicker sometimes which should be a fairly easy fix if necessary.

Cosmetically it looks better than the pictures and has a very nice chrome finish with only some minor light surface scratches.

    I’m asking $480.00 plus shipping and what you will get is;

    - La Pavoni Europiccola Lusso (Chrome finish)
    - Portafilter
    - 3 x double filter baskets (allows you to load up a few shots then just drop the baskets in the portafilter)
    - 1 x single filter basket
    - Original plastic tamper
    - Original plastic measured scoop
    - Standard milk steaming wand
    - Milk frothing attachment (sucks cold milk up a tube from a glass and spits out froth into your cup).
    - Original box and packing inserts (a bit of wear and plastic grab handle snapped in half which a cable tie could easily fix)
    - I can’t find the original user manuals but have a PDF version and additional helpful information. There’s a lot of good info to be found on how to get the most out of this machine. If I find the manuals, I’ll send them to you.

I will place the original box in another box and can send via Australia Post (if small enough) or e-go which will probably be cheaper anyway. If you are in Brisbane, you are welcome to check it out in Zillmere.

If you have any questions let me know.

The chrome finish looks a lot better than these pictures. Will try and take some without the flash.

Here is a shot I tried out this morning using Di Bella Felici.

Unfortunately I dont have a grinder at the moment and this was pre-ground for Commercial Espresso for use on my Expobar so is possibly a bit fine for the Pav. 12 days since packed at Bowen Hills. Not too sure when it was roasted. 14g in the double filter basket. Lots of force require to extract. Still nice though.

I am now fairly certain that the previous photo of a sample shot was using very old (7 months past best before date!!) Lavazza Gold pre-ground so I was amazed I actually got some crema.
