  • !!!SOLD!!! - FS: As/Near New Rancilio Silvia V3

    Hi Fellow Snobs,
After my romance with Miss Silvia and the introduction she gave me to the world of espresso I have since decided I want to upgrade to a HX,
Purchased from JetBlack in May 2011 ($719) it is as new,  bar the usual slight scratching on top of the cup warmer and drip tray!!!!!! This has been my baby for the 4 months I have had her. But I must add this is no ordinary Silvia.
Since purchase I became more and more interested in coffee and tried increasingly to improve the results, and being the perfectionist  I am; I made the following modifications/additions: 8-)
    - Watlow S3DC PID with steam control ($380 from Jim) for your reading see link for PIDkits http://pidkits.com/kits.html
    - Flat Rancilio Shower screen ($25)
    - Triple OEM Rancilio portafilter ($200)
    - Insulated boiler, Group head, Steam pipes ($60)
    - La Marzocco Single filter basket (7g) ($15)
    - Synesso Double Ridgeless basket (14g) ($20)
    - Rancilio triple basket (21g) ($15)
    - Rancilio Single spout ($20)
So with all that I calculate to date a cost of $1,454
What does this mean you potential ‘buyer’. This is the ultimate Silvia that doesn’t require temperature surfing, no channelling due a hex nut spoiling your puck, a machine with quicker heat up and temperature stability; and lastly a portafilter which can hold a 21g basket without having to go bottomless.
As for the important facts for the next discerning owner.
    Maintenance consisted of:
    - a back flush after every use, empty of drip tray and wipe down etc.
    - Chemical back flush once a week with disassembly of brew head for a thorough scrub and soaking of steam wand.
    - Descale every three months.
    - Replacement of group head seal every 6 months  (just replaced)
    - Use of Brita Jug and Bombora in-tank softeners
    Typical use:
    - 2 coffees morning and night on weekdays
    - 3 coffees Saturday/Sunday

Asking Price $750 (updated) this will include filter baskets machine, Portafilter double/single, replacement group seal, spare Bombora filter and original invoice. (incl. original baskets and shower screen),
Please note all my modifications are reversible as no drilling etc was performed and all original boxes etc are available.

As for buyers I would love a local pickup/dropoff if your not too far (Melbourne Western suburbs) as with the PID attached it is probably more fragile to transport but I am open to all offers.

That is one massively pimped Silvia ITC..

Nevertheless, if you are expecting the new owner to take on the financial controller as well, youre gonna have to consider a lower price... ;D

Good luck with the sale. Silvias dont come any better....

        Almost too cheap now?

But I have Kevos Isomac Venus now - Im still learning; hopefully shes got it!

Your (InTheCups) Rocky sold initially to Japert is now also in Canberra and should also do nicely.

Enough of the namedropping Ill hide my love away now

Well if anyone wants to pay me more Im fine with that but as I am picking up my new machine from Chris this weekend, it has to go otherwise the financial controller will chop off my downstairs.

          P.s. Giotto evo 8-)

Trust me if you miss out youll kick yourself, if I wasnt in a hurry I would want so much more. The hours I have spent on this machine and the effort it has taken me to get where it is; this has been my baby and in my mind a definite competition to say a VBM Piccolo in terms of quality. The steaming is at least 15-20% more powerful than a regular Silvia due to the tighter temp control and the brew is always spot on.

And yet youre offloading all this (as well as the rocky) so soon since purchase! Either Silvia is beneath you (a 4 month affair with a Silvia shows no loyalty) and is rubbish or you need to reconsider after a good look at yourself in caffeineaddictsanonymous mirrors. A true snob! :

I have lots of guests over. So I admit its kind of tricky to make lots of milk based drinks consecutively.

I suppose when I first bought the machine I didnt understand my requirements. So the Silvia taught me technique and gave me my passion. By no means beneath, just not suited.

Re: FS: As/Near New Rancilio Silvia V3

                    Hi ITC,

Im interested in buying, but I suggest you consider the insulation something done for your own enjoyment and sell the following items second hand:

                    - Triple OEM Rancilio portafilter ($200)
                    - La Marzocco Single filter basket (7g) ($15)
                    - Synesso Double Ridgeless basket (14g) ($20)
                    - Rancilio triple basket (21g) ($15)
                    - Rancilio Single spout ($20)

                    Possibly leave the:

                    - Flat Rancilio Shower screen ($25)

                    in with the original package.

While it is massively pimped, unfortunately it doesnt add all the value you might be hoping for! When most people are screaming over chopped/naked portafilters instead of triple baskets, and the VBM baskets are all the rage atm, its just worth being realistic on what the machine on its own is worth, as the added extras are only worth it if people want them. I feel the same on my Domus Galatea & Domobar Super which Im thinking of selling - heaps of additional work has gone into them, and heaps of additional parts, but the value add second-hand is upsettingly minimal.

Please feel free to PM me with a machine-only price if you want to sell it this way.

                      Hey Snobs,

Agreed Coffeehorse in relation to modifications.

As I see it the potential buyer is scoring alot for free. As I see it Im just trying to recoup the cost of the machine and taking the rest in my stride as an expensive date. :-*

                        Couple of things:

                        1. As always, those interested should be negotiating with ITC offline as CS is not an auction site
                        2. For someone wanting a PID Silvia, the machine is very fairly priced. Consider a PL041TEM at $900 then add the cost of any bits you want to buy.
                        3. How about if everyone gives the poor bloke a break and stay out of the thread unless youre a potential buyer?  :-?

This Silvia is now handed down to me!

InTheCup is one great man. Amazing enthusiasm to the machine. Hope I could inherit some of that with the Silvia!
