With the assistance of the charming Ofra at Di Bartoli I have finally succumbed to the temptation of "upgradeitis". Therefore I have for sale my "learners kit".
It consists of:
2 x Saeco Via Venezia Coffee Machines
!!!SOLD!!! -1 x Sunbeam 0480 Conical Burr Grinder
The Details
Via Venezia 1. This is my original machine and has had about 1 years use. It is the model previous to the current one and has the larger round buttons. It is in immaculate condition and has the original manual but not its box. Christmas before last I needed extra coffee-making capacity so, being very pleased with my original, I bought another one exactly the same. After the horde departed I put the original machine aside and used the new one. I have run water through it and descaled it intermittently to keep it in good working order. For the past 18 months I have been using …
Via Venezia 2. This is the current model with the smaller buttons and has made around 550 - 700 coffees only by our best guess. Specs for both machines are the same and are below. Again this machine is in immaculate condition and makes a very nice coffee when teamed with …
Sunbeam Model 0480 Conical Burr Grinder. The receipt for this is nearly two years old so that helps date the No 1 Via Venezia the receipt for which I have misplaced. Once again this machine is in immaculate condition. Burrs are regularly cleaned and show no sign of wear at all. This is the stainless steel version, not the grey plastic version which resembles stainless steel. Accessories included are the rubber spout extender which directs the grind; two portafilter holders (lge and small), plus a coffee catcher if you are not grinding directly into a portafilter.
Coffee Machine Specs:
Power: 240 volts/50 Hz/950 watts
Casing: Brushed stainless steel
Dimensions (l x h x w): 220 x 320 x 290 mm
Weight: 8.5 kg
Power cord length: 1.2 m
Filter Holder: Crema
Water Tank: See-through, removable
Pump Type: Vibration
Pump Pressure: 13 - 15 bar
Boiler: Stainless Steel and Brass
Conclusion
I have found the combination of the Sunbeam grinder and the Via Venezia an ideal combination to learn all about the variations that occur with different grinds, tamping pressures and amount of coffee in the portafilter. I now think I am getting about the best coffee I can from this combination therefore I have stepped up to a Compak K3T and a VBM Domo Jr. Frankly, if I had bought such a combination originally I believe I would have been frustrated and may never have understood what I know now about chasing the perfect coffee.
Prices
I think the following prices are fair given the excellent condition of each machine.
Via Venezia 1. $200
Via Venezia 2. $250
!!!SOLD!!! -Sunbeam Grinder: $110
Questions? Phone me on 0412 131053.
These are not practical to pack up and send. Pick-up and pay at Forestville, which is in northern Sydney between Chatswood and Manly.
Edited to reflect the sold grinder.
