  • !!!SOLD!!! Rancilio Silvia For Sale

NB- 2onnett has informed that this item has been promised to a member and is now spoken for...Post will be updated as sold on settlement 2mcm

The time has come to say goodbye to my Silivia after upgrading. The machine is about 2 and half years old, in pristine condition. In addition to the machine you will get:

    * The standard accessories that come with it - measuring sppon, plastic tamper etc
    * User manual - not all that useful. You will get more assistance on this website
    * Commercial size porta filter baskets - improve coffee quality
    * 4 cups and a milk jug
    * 3 hole frothing wand tip

The 3 hole tip is specially made for the Siliva by 1st-online in the US and supplied only to their customers. It took a lot of begging and grovelling to get them to sell me one.

The machine can be picked up either from Bonnet Bay (home) or Botany (work). I would like to hand it over and demonstrate its workings to the new owner.

            hey admins,

in light of comment by 2mcm at top of topic about keeping people informed when the item is gone, what about just removing topics once u know the equipment is gone? Otherwise they just bog up the system and are not relevant....there only 4sales after all.

            just a thought!

              Gday Gonzo,

I feel that leaving the threads up gives people a chance to see what equipment is available in the used market, how many are interested in it, and the price it goes for. All very useful information and relevant to anybody concerned about the resale value of their equipment.

We have no shortage of hard drive space and having the extra threads left on does not bog down the system in any way.

I would prefer to see these threads left in place - as well as the points that Javaphile made, it can be useful to see just how often some items come onto the second hand market, and what price you could reasonably expect if you were considering selling your machine/grinder.

also true if you are working out what the resale value of a new purchase is.

For example the Silvia is a tough machine, nearly zero problems, produces great coffee and the resale value is much better than pretty much all the coffee machines that a "white goods" store sell.

Seems to me the only reason CSrs sell their Silvia is because the upgrade bug got em and they can somehow justify buying a new toy to the minister for finance.

                      Re: Rancilio Silvia For Sale

You are absolutely right, Andy. I was actually given a new HX machine by a client for whom Ive done a lot of unpaid work otherwise I would have lived happily with my Silvia for a long time to come. I must say that the upgrade bug has been gnawing on my brain for a while and I would have shelled out my own money sooner or later. Frivolous? Yes. But thats what keeps the wheels of capitalism oiled. If we werent prepared to indulge ourselves, we wouldnt be living in a booming economy, Italy would be a much poorer country (missing out on coffee machine exports), cars still wouldnt have demisters, let alone climate control. Where do you stop? So, lets recycle our Silivias. It will bring a whole lot of new CS into the fold who will sooner or later upgrade.......

Also.... We change our computers faster than our coffee machines and they dont even make coffee!

Geez. Reading 2onnetts post, Ive got a touch of the guilts for not doing my bit for the global economy and upgrading my Silvia!
