Hi,

Was toying with the idea of getting a manual lever machine (in addition to my Rocket Giotto). People say in general you get a much more buttery smooth shot than with a semi-automatic HX machine.

Does the LP Professional suffer from over heating the group head?

Seems to be mentioned a lot on the web. Can only pull a few shots and then have to let it cool down.

The Gaggia Achillie had a different piston mechanism which gave more temperature stability but they werent imported to Aus (and they suffered from some leaking problems).

Can you pull double shots on the LP?

At the risk of being called OT The shots are different and you have a lot more control (or lack of) over variables. Yes they do run hot if left on to long and so will the Gaggia. Yes you can pull doubles (double stroke) with the double basket.

I think the Achille has a HX. On the Pavoni, you can easily heat manage the head with a cold towel. I used one of those fluffy dish cloths with great success. Could leave the thing on all day.

There is a PTFE (?) gasket you can get that will go between the head and boiler that makes a huge difference to heat transference. Works a treat on the Microcasa Leva and I would imagine on the LP as well.
