  • !!!SOLD!!! - FS: Baratza Preciso 1 day old.

    Yes, 1 day old.

I couldn't resist having a play with this grinder first hand so bought one from the Australian Distributor. By the time you get it, it will have seen 250g go through it. It will be available from next week, or maybe this weekend in Sydney.

They are $350 delivered - I'll let this go pickup for $295. Original box, manual etc.

I wasn't expecting to be impressed, but I have been - its got some great benefits. Coming from a commercial doser which would hold about a shot of coffee grounds in the chute, this in comparison has next to nothing - thats a great feature for a home grinder in my opinion. I have it sitting on a small set of kitchen scales, and pour 18g of beans into the hopper and get 18g out into the basket. it grinds perfectly for my Giotto, and siphon, and plunger and changes grind settings to suit in under 5 seconds. very home friendly. I like it.

I'll back up axisa's comment - I have this grinder at home. It's very good.

        - small footprint so doesn't take up a huge amount of bench space
        - macro/micro grind adjustments work well
        - holds 250g beans in the hopper (which just happens to be the packet size sold by my local bean shop, no I don't measure out every dose with scales)
        - looks good

The only small negative is the timer. Supposedly it can be used to grind the same amount of beans every time, but even on it's smallest setting the grind is too big for a double shot and overflows the basket. So I measure my grind by tamping to the same height once the grind is in the basket. Not a big deal.

Also had the preciso for 2 years now. Zero grounds retention which is great when you're playing with lots of small home roasts and switching from espresso to drip throughout the day. It's not quite commercial build but very good for home use. Stripped the gears on mine with a stone a couple of months ago but cost me $15 to fix I think. Parts ordered directly from Baratza USA. I would by another if this one was ever irreparable.
