I am offering my Carimali UNO single group espresso machine for sale.
It has a build date of 1997, and had a complete strip-down rebuild by myself in 2007 (wow, that long ago already!). Somewhere in the archives is a thread (unfortunately without pics now) about the rebuild; it was very thorough and methodical. The machine has gone like a German Band ever since. All I have had to do is change softener cartridge and combination filter every year, and the group seal.
Specs are:-
- Boiler: 3.5L copper
- Element: 1600W
- Plug type: Standard domestic 10A plug
- Group head: Chrome plated brass with HX
- Height: 360mm, add ~60mm for feet, add 50mm for rear perspex cup holder
- Depth: 445mm
- Width: 390mm
- Water supply: Plumbed in with rotary vane pump. I used it for some time with a bucket, draws fine.
- Tray drain: Plumbed
The only faults I can think of is the tray is missing it's top grate, so I butchered a cake tray and sat it atop two pieces of granite/corian. I've been using it that way for nearly 7 years...it's no big deal. Also a previous owner for some inexpicable reason fitted an odd power switch attached to a piece of aluminium drilled into the chassis. I replaced all that crap with a proper power switch, but the two drill holes are still visible next to the switch....purely cosmetic.
The machine comes with the following:-
- Braided SS water inlet hose. You can have the drain hose if you really want, but it's just a piece of PVC hose that's filthy with coffee residue
- A double basket, single basket, and blind filter. The double is ridged, but I laboriously sanded the inside wall so that the ridge can't be felt and my Bogav tamper clears it (Bogav tamper NOT included)
- Double spout Portafilter
- Single OR naked Portafilter. Your choice, but you can't have both!
- I replaced the anti-vacuum valve a little while ago, it was getting a little unreliable...you can have the old one if you wish
- I have a brand new group seal ready to go. The current one is still supple and I can swap over for you if you like
- I have a 'splash-proof' cover for the power switch; I don't like using it, but it's there if you want it
The machine is hooked up and functional, ready for prospective buyers to road test. This is strictly pickup only from 2229 Lilli Pilli in Sydney's south (not the Bateman's Bay Lilli Pilli). Please don't ask me to pack/ship for you, it ain't going to happen
Price is $700, which I think is very fair for a quality commercial single group HX machine in excellent working order.
Please make contact for any queries you may have or to organise a viewing. Thanks!
Oh, and just a heads-up, I'll be listing a Brasilia 'Club', and a 2-group Reneka semi-auto 'doer-upper' shortly if you want something smaller (in the first case), larger (in the second case), and cheaper (in both cases!).
